People like to go on about how the Eagles fleeced the Cards for Kolb, but what has DRC done in Philly? He was rated the 98th best CB in the league last season. Hardly a loss. Cards seemed to have conned the Eagles into thinking DRC is better than he actually is.

The only bad part of the initial trade was the 2nd round pick.

Sounds to me like Skelton’s a “winner” who “inspires” his teammates to play better. Sounds like he “deserves” a chance to start and to play in spite of what the stats say or what you see with your own eyes. Don’t tell me these rules only apply to that guy in Denver.

On top of all the questions about Kolb’s playing skills, I am most concerned with how injury prone he is. How can he even try to show he can play if he is off the field? I think his happy feet and lack of accuracy make him an average QB at best, but if he is not in the field he is not even going to be that. He has had 2 concussions already, get a third one and he will end up in the short bus on his way back to Texas. Wish him success, but this will truly be a make it or break it year for his career in the NFL.

You can give Kevin Kolb all the time in the world and nothing will change, he’ll be awful tomorrow just like he is today. Amazing all the excuses that are being made for Kolb, bottom line he is not and never will be a good qb. He has absolutely no problem at all, walking up and down the sidelines, getting paid while someone else does his job, he did it in Philly and he doing it in Arizona, the guy is pathetic.

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. When Kolb played, he often played very well. He never had a chance as a starter in Phila. He went two quarters behind a horrendous OL, then got benched for Vick. I still say Kolb can be a good or even great QB. But time will tell.

If neither Kolb or Skelton work out as the starter, the Cardinals can always acquire Mike Kafka from the Eagles for a 2nd rounder in next year’s draft.

Great analysis!!!

Plus, he was WAY too dependent on everyone around him!!!! He needs quality “everything” around him!!!

He needs quality in the following positions:
Offensive Line
Wide Receiver
Tight End
Running Back in the passing game

This IS true and that is why he IS overly dependent!!!
Just run the ball next year and let Skelton hit Fitzgerald and two more deep ball pass catchers off play-action!!!

The defense was much better the second half of the season. They blew 4 games that Kolb was qb. I am not a huge Kolb fan at all, but the d gave those games away early in the season.

It was the defence and special teams that won most of the games down the stretch not Skelton, Kolb is the better qb.

I wouldn’t say that the eagles fleeced the cards, Rodgers Cromartie was awful last year and with the eagles recent history of early round draft picks (except mccoy and maclin) there’s a good chance the pick will be wasted.

Ummmm Kolb was the NFC Offensive player of the week twice, and the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 300 yards in each of his first two career starts. The hype may have been a little much but he showed he has potential to be a serviceable QB in the right system. Give him a full offseason before you deem it a fleecing.

I watched Kolb play some very good games, including a convincing win over a Falcons team that lost few other games that year. He’ll be fine.

Not that Kolb was playing lights out but Skelton had a 68 passer rating to Kolb’s 81 passer rating.

Of Skelton’s 6 wins, only 1 came against a team that went to the playoffs and all of them came in the second half of the season.

The offensive line was a mess last year and were just starting to gel when kolb went down. The line still wasn’t very good but Skelton wasn’t running for his life every play like Kolb, just every other play.

That said, this year is make or break for Kolb. He has a full offseason and hopefully the Cards addressed the other areas of weakness in the offense.
