Florio and Borges cover the Boston sports market, and they’re like having a couple traitors ‘on your side’. The Boston sports market is well known for having the biggest as$holes as “reporters”. They constantly drum up a bunch of whiny conspiracy theories, speculations, rumors and blame-game garbage that naturally only gets under the skin of most of the players and coaches. Go watch tape of michael the dick lover felger and his band of as$clowns trying to get many team-mates and even Cam-fokkin Neely to dish some dirt on Tim Thomas, just because they’re radical liberals who HATED Tim because of his political views. And they were hating on Bobby V before he even got started. Most of the jerks on CSNNE are all small minded punks with a snarky attitude because someone gave them a job that they don’t deserve. Tom Curran and Mary Paoletti, Steve DeOssie and Fred Smerlas, and Shalise Manza Young are an exception. Florio, you should be ashamed of yourself, you punk.

I have no idea what the Patriots have done wrong here. Borges and Condon are making it seem like he’s going to have to hold out because the Patriots are being unfair to him. Let him sign somewhere else. The Pats already tried to sign Reggie Wayne. So it’s not as if he is their first choice. They should take a shot at Wallace before him too.

Celebrity agent once again lets his client twist in the wind when he thought he had the press and some leverage. He didn’t do Watson any favors either, letting a rookie hold out is seldom a winning situation. Condon was thinking about his own future clients, not what was best for Watson. Now Lloyd will have to take a lousy contract when the music stops, in a place he probably doesn’t want to play. Pats said fine, we’ll move on to the next guy on the list. Juvenile? That’s Condon. Lloyd should call Pierre Garcon’s agent.

Okay. So Lloyd is not a Patriot as of yet. Okay. What they have offered will be enough or it won’t. Someone already said it, there are 31 other teams that he can play for. Agent or not, If his focus is getting the most money, he should sign with the team that offers the most. Of course, that may not be the best place to play. He’s an adult. He’ll figure it out. Nothing to see here.

The Patriots owner Robert Kraft is widely recognized as being the catalyst and key person in pulling both sides together to get the new NFL labor contract done. That doesn’t sound very “cut-throat” to me.

Jonathan Fanenen got 3 yrs/$12 million
Steve Gregory got 3 yrs/$8.5 million
Dan Connolly got 3 yrs/$??? million
Brian Hoyer received 2nd round tender ($1.95 million)
Plus all the 1 year deals ‘qualifying contracts’ that count $540 against cap:
Niko Koutouvides, Tracy White, Marcus Harrison

My best guess is that the Patriots have $8.9 million in cap space left. Not sure why Pats are portrayed negatively for driving hard bargains, following the fine details of rules and generally be smarte than most teams who blow big $ on free agents and can’t manage the Cap…maybe if they could they would be in the SB 50% of the time! haters gonna hate!

It’s not petty. If the player WANTS to sign for what the team offers, and the agent resigns on “principle”, then it’s the agent who is petty and immature. The agent works for the player. Not the other way around. If Condon doesn’t do what Lloyd wants, then Lloyd SHOULD fire him. If Lloyd doesn’t fire Condon but Condon resigns as a result of Lloyd “caving” to the Pats’ demands, then Condon looks like the ass not the Patriots.

If Lloyd doesn’t like the Pats final offer, then go sign somewhere else. It’s a free country, and you’re a free agent. Condon needs to know his role.

How do you figure they only have 8M left? They had around 18M going into FA, resigned Slater, Connoly, etc…All of those combined cant possibly cost more than around 2M this year(at the most)Signed Fanene(his charge is 4M or less)Signed Gregory(and overpaid)to “around 3 or 4M per year average” So even estimating on the low side, they should still have 10M give or take…. But I doubt even Lloyd is silly enough to ask for 8M a year or more. Just saying.

As for Lloyd, he was not smart at all when he openly courted the Pats. He not only may have alienated other teams, but he has also driven his price down and at his age this may be the last decent deal he will get, not a smart move.

Since he believes so much in McDaniels offense, if he were younger he could have taken less money, and a short term deal, and hit FA again, when the TV money comes in and the cap jumps in 2 years.

Right now he needs to widen his horizon, Pats are not going to pay him, without competition. Visit MIA, 49ers, DEN, CLE, HOU etc.

Patriots only have around $8 million in cap space left and likely have more on their mind than simply giving all of it to Brandon Lloyd.

They would like to keep BenJarvus Green-Ellis, get some more help for the defensive line (re-sign Andre Carter? or Mark Anderson), bring in an OLB who is good in pass coverage possibly Trevor Scott… and maybe sign Brandon Lloyd.

If there is a holdup with Lloyd it comes down to a disagreement on years/money/signing bonus and not a conspiracy or a vendetta.

The Patriots last won the Super Bowl in February 2005 as part of the 2004/2005 season. Since that time, they have been to 2 more Super Bowls (losing in last minute of each) and 3 AFC title games with best record in all of football since that last SB victory. They have won 9 or more every season startin in 2001 and 10 or more in 10 of those 11 seasons. Since that 2001 season, they have won AFC East every season except 2002 and 2008 (11-5 with M Cassell) and in both of those cases, they tied for div title but lost tie-break. I think they have a pretty good approach. For the Spy Gate guys, they also have best record post that event.
