Matt Flynn is currently at the Dolphins’ facility

Arkansas v LSU Getty Images

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post confirms that free agent quarterback Matt Flynn arrived at the Dolphins’ facility around 5 or 6 a.m. Saturday. He is currently touring team headquarters.

The Dolphins previously had some concern that Flynn might not make it out of Seattle. He was at the Seahawks’ facility on Friday. But Flynn all along planned to make at least two free agent visits.

“He said it was a really nice place, and he enjoyed it,” Flynn’s father, Alvin, told the Post. “But he wanted to look at both of them. That was the way he felt going in.”

Alvin Flynn now expects his son to make a prompt decision.

“Logic would tell me he would do something this weekend or thereabouts. He doesn’t want to drag this out.”

Unlike, you know, that other guy.

    In like Flynn.

Miami is the best place for Flynn to prove he can play in this league. Since he isn’t going to get the 5 yr/50M contract that some thought he would, he needs to play well somewhere for his next contract. That will be the big payday for Flynn.

Unless there is a huge disparity in contracts favoring Seattle, then I would be really surprised if he isn’t a Dolphin by tomorrow.

Wish Justin Blackmon can wear the aqua!! Miami at 8 spot in the draft won’t make that a reality!! Don’t think the Phins management is smart enough to move up to around spots 3-5 to grab him.

  7. dolphinatic13 says: Mar 17, 2012 11:51 AM

Let the Flynn “sanity” begin. Lets sign this guy and prepare for a new era in Dolphins history…Me hopes a good one.

  8. dolfanatik says: Mar 17, 2012 11:54 AM

Flynn -sanity. West coast offense in Miami. At least we have a name for O. Wanstache Satan and soprano didn’t have an offense. so I’m excited.

He will need some guys to throw to first.

Sign Matt Flynn and keep Matt Moore as his back-up, providing he earns the starting job over Moore.

Matt-n-Matt will hopefully turn out better than Chad-n-Chad did.

  11. getagripdummie says: Mar 17, 2012 12:08 PM

This will be good, Matt Moore can play in this league. Let Moore and Flynn battle it out in camp. In a better offense Moore may actually shine. Now the first pick can be used somewhere else and the option of trading down increases.

  12. finsfan71 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:09 PM

Flynn to Marlon Moore will be epic!

“Manning is coming to South Beath!!! You haters don’t have a chance, he has a condo here already. We are going to win 3 straight Super Bowls. HAHAHA!”

    72 hours later

“We didn’t want that washed up, noodle armed Peyton Manning anyway. The guy isn’t healthy and will never be 100% again, whatever team signs him is stupid”.

    48 hours later

    “Let the Flynnsanity begin”!!!
Flynn will lead us to 3 straight Super Boewl victories!! People are hatin on us cause we will get the best QB in the league. His 2 career starts proved he is better than Manning and Brady.
This is our leader and hero!!!!!!!”

    48 hours later ????

“We didn’t want Flynn anyway. He aint proved nothing in the league. Only 2 career starts? one of them against a pathetic Patriot defense that a chimp could have thrown for 300 yards against.
Ha,, whichever team signs him will be getting a BUST!!!”

    Fins fans are pathetic

sign flynn…. give us finatics some hope

  15. ezra954 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:11 PM

We should over pay for this guy I mean he played two games and espn thinks he is the next best thing since Kevin Kolb and we all know how that worked out

I bet Moore is the starter come week one 2012

  16. marinephinfan says: Mar 17, 2012 12:13 PM

The Dolphins were worried he wouldn’t make it out of Seattle or the media said the Dolphins were worried he wouldn’t make it out of Seattle? I know it’s the latter and there’s a big difference.

  17. drumnw says: Mar 17, 2012 12:13 PM

great, we are gonna get a ryan fitzpatrick wanna-be…shave the beard!

  18. justafanofitall says: Mar 17, 2012 12:18 PM

Hope they get some talent around him or it will be hard for him to be sucessful and the media will proclaim him has a bust. He’ll be a good qb with Philbin.

  19. finsmakemecry says: Mar 17, 2012 12:23 PM

Don’t worry drumnw, 1-2 OTAs in the Miami heat, and Flynn will lose the beard. If he doesn’t, then he isn’t bright enough to play in this league anyway.

  20. gorilladik81 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:27 PM

They should stick with Moore, Flynn is no better, they have a good o-line and running game, the need a no.1 WR, and get better on the defensive front 7, build through the draft, they could be a 7 win team this year and develop their draft picks could be a playoff team next year, tell Flynn he’s a jerkoff and give him a one-way ticket to Seattle.

  21. noahbird says: Mar 17, 2012 12:29 PM

Who is Flynn going to throw to? We have two short slow wide receivers with above average hands. Bush cant do everything.

  22. hdahs143 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:30 PM

Apparently, Bleacher Report is high on Flynn as well.

So he gets to choose between the Pete Carroll circus or the Stephen Ross circus.

    bummer.

Ross is a scary little man and the Settle owner is the richest man in the NFL. I say go west. The Dolphins franchise is out of whack.

    Flynn the Fin

  25. win1soon says: Mar 17, 2012 12:34 PM

Phin fans lets get it straight, you are SETTLING for Matt Flynn, just like you settled for Philbin. I know it is very hard for you fans to grasp this, but you have not been good for a very long time, 28 yrs since last SB, 38 yrs since last win, yet you think every player wants to be there because of the “GREAT WEATHER & ITS SOUTH BEACH”! That is a bonus, but think about it these guys spend less than half a year in the city they play in. I find it hilarous that the Dolphins have not been able to land the big fish so to speak, I guess they have become the new place where nobody wants to go, enjoy 4th place!

  26. dolphins4 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:36 PM

    Dolphins+ Flynn =Super Bowl.

  27. randomguy9999 says: Mar 17, 2012 12:43 PM

Flynn hasn’t proved that he is a major upgrade over Moore, so it can’t be a major contract as they are still short a #1 wideout and a couple of linemen….

  28. handsofglue says: Mar 17, 2012 12:45 PM

Dude has played two games in the NFL… too much hype! They are better off going after the guy that gets released from the team Peyton signs on!

playing for an owner who doesn’t want him after said owner settled for a coach he wasn’t overly enamored with as well is not a good set up.

davone bess and bush are the only offensive weapons worth mentioning.

new defensive scheme and a lack of players to fill it properly doesn’t equal him getting into a good situation.

you are going to have to guarantee him the starting spot to shift the balance of power into miami’s favor.

  30. thesportgenius says: Mar 17, 2012 1:22 PM

He should wait for Manning to sign 1st. You don’t want to be on the Seachicks if Peyton goes to SF. He could be the next Charlie Whitehurst under Cheat Carol.

  33. pancanfinfan says: Mar 17, 2012 1:39 PM

Many are clamoring to trade up to grab blackmon. Not sure he’s a can’t Miss type WR who warrant giving away picks. I rather wait to see what falls to us in a WR rich draft.

  34. mumakata says: Mar 17, 2012 1:47 PM

Can’t wait until Brady retires and all the band wagon Patriots fans disappear back under the bridges from whence they came.

  35. stevenfbrackett says: Mar 17, 2012 2:53 PM

It is funny all the people screaming “But he only started two games! He’s overrated!”

It is true, he only started two games. It is also true that one of those starts was a once-in-a-lifetime showing for most QBs.

But what everyone conveniently overlooks is all times he came in in relief. He didn’t always win, but no one would have. What he did do was show a boatload of talent and poise and competitiveness. When he came in, no one was saying “We’re doomed now” like is so often the case when backups come in because he wasn’t awful even in losses.

There will be a learning curve with a new team, sure. Just like anyone. But it isn’t going to be a disaster unless the Dolphins make him their only upgrade.

  36. bnwpnw says: Mar 17, 2012 2:59 PM

Rock solid organization with the best facilities in the NFL (I wonder if they flew him in on the seaplane) — vs organization widely viewed as the laughingstock of the NFL.

    Choose wisely.

Only once did he throw more than 6 passes in a relief appearance. In that game he was 15 of 26 for 177 and a pick in a 7-3 loss to the Lions.

Real boatload of talent right there.

Whether the dolphins sign flynn or not, the fact is that the fins whipped the jets in the final game of the season in a must win game for the jets to make the playoffs.

With flanchez and coach el gordo ryan, jets are destined to the cellar of the afc east.

Regardless, fireman ed, that living caricature, will still be screaming J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK!

  41. jeffesky says: Mar 17, 2012 10:45 PM

Flynn would do well in seattle because they have a stout run game, tall recievers..rice6-4,williams6-5,duram6-6.lockete,moraand mcoy all 6-3 plus a wicked defense. only way he goes to the fins is if hes a dumby. then the hawks wouldnt want him anyway
