and now that i have thought of it to put you in a better perspective ny has 2 teams in each sport where boston has 1 and we have produced more championships in the last 15 years than ny… i mean we have a few nba rings a stanley cup 2 world series and 3 super bowls.. ny has what?? a couple world series and just now in the last 10 years have 3 super bowl wins?? yet i dont see ny hockey going anywhere and ny baskeball has been a bust for quite sometime.. not to mention the only reason the yankess can hold themselves is their near billion dollar salary cap… if baseball changed their contract rules the yankess would flop like the vast majority of baseball teams
__
Boston doesn't have two teams because they are too small time to support them. You guys once had the Braves...lost them. You guys had the Redskins...lost them. Took another 40 years to get the AFL Boston Patriots. Another 40 years for them to win anything.

And as far as the Yankees spending money...guess who else does...yes, the Red Sox. In fact, Tom Yawkey used to annually outspend the Yankees, yet he ended up with nothing to show for his money. At least the Yankees got something for the money that they spent. And if you think that the Yankees wouldn't find a way to win otherwise, you are delusional. They will always own the Red Sox, money or no money. The Rangers are already in the playoffs, so your prediction is lame there. And the Knicks may well still step it up now that the idiot D'Antoni got booted. Meanwhile, the Celtics are just getting old. Prepare yourself for the inevitable decline of all of your teams. It's coming sooner than you think, but one thing works in your favor. Once they hit the bottom again, you will find it much easier to get tickets since all of the bandwagon New England fans will return to hiding in their closets like they did in the 90s, when your teams won nothing.

you talk a lot of smack in regards to boston teams bozo but just so you are aware for nearly a century the only thing ny sports facs could look forward to was baseball unlike boston based teams all of them for year and years have been strong contenders even in losing seasons not to mention that we are the ONLY city to ever have all 4 major teams win a championship within a decade and even prior to that we have had great teams even with the lack of championships…. don’t get your panties in a bunch cause now we enjoy that our good teams have finally produced some rings for us

_
All four teams did NOT win a championship within a decade. Not unless you are trying to pretend that the decade started in 2001 and ended in 2011. Figures that a New Englander would try and spin it that way. I don't begrudge the teams the rings...what I don't like (and what most others don't like either) is that you guys don't know how to be good winners or losers. Your fan base is the biggest bunch of loudmouthed crybabies out there. I'll leave the panty-wearing to you pansies.

haha bozo, your hatred of the patriots makes me laugh. keep posting please. i need some more laughs. you are just plain jealous of the patriots

___
See, that’s where you idiot Pats fans are wrong. It’s not the Patriots that I dislike. It’s you bunch of no-life obnoxious New England losers that continually pollute the Internet with your empty blathering, bragging about the mercenary teams that purport to represent your miserable region. It’s a continual source of amusement to see so many of you whine whenever anyone makes the slightest bit of a disparaging remark about any of your local pro teams. It’s almost as if you idiots really think that any one of these players gives a rat’s patootie if any of you exist. What jokes you all are in real life.
———–
You are a frontrunner that deserted your hometown team(s) to root for the biggest mercenary teams in their respective sports, the Lakers and Yankees. Do you live in both NY and LA at the same time? When will you be revealing your football team, purple coward?

He’s right, except you’re not jealous of the teams as much as your jealous of a cohesive Boston fan base for all the teams here. The biggest crybaby on this site is you, schmeg-face.

Live in both NY and LA at the same time? Only a loser believes that one has to live where the teams that they root for play. Winners exercise free choice, one of the principles that this country was founded on. For the record though, my mom was a New Yorker who weaned me on Yankees baseball. Growing up in LA, I naturally followed the Lakers, who are my "hometown" team, though I don't think that it really matters much. As for the "favorite" football team, I've already told plenty of posters here that I used to be a Niners fan, but quit rooting for the team once the Yorks pushed out Eddie DiBartolo. Can't be any worse than Bill Simmons dumping the Bruins a few years ago.

As for your "cohesive fan base"? Yeah, you guys cohesively disappeared pre-2001, schmeg-fiend.

randomcommenter says: Mar 18, 2012 3:52 AM

The 2011 Pats were a product of their weak schedule. Even the playoffs broke their way when they got to play the Broncos and Ravens.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
And in 2010, the Pats beat like 6 playoff teams and went one and done. It's a useless stat out of any sort of context.

And to people slagging the D, the Pats wouldn't have made it past the AFCC if their D hadn't carried them in that game. Are they fantastic? Nope, and I want 90% of the draft to be D. But they did a helluva job situationally & in the red zone which is more than they've done in YEARS (still bad on third down though).

Lloyd strikes me as a Keyshawn Johnson type. Very brash, opinionated and intelligent but prone to shooting his way out of town via his mouth. Not a fan of the signing but it's worth noting that Keyshawn is a fan of Parcells and BB and vice versa so maybe this will work too.

The 2011 Pats were a product of their weak schedule. Even the playoffs broke their way when they got to play the Broncos and Ravens.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
And in 2010, the Pats beat like 6 playoff teams and went one and done. It’s a useless stat out of any sort of context.

And to people slagging the D, the Pats wouldn’t have made it past the AFCC if their D hadn’t carried them in that game. Are they fantastic? Nope, and I want 90% of the draft to be D. But they did a helluva job situationally & in the red zone which is more than they’ve done in YEARS (still bad on third down though).

Is losing a Superbowl by one play to a flippin' NINE AND SEVEN team equivalent to getting blown out? I dunno. Feels like it should be.

I guess this is a good pickup, but teams like the Saints (despite the drama), Packers, Ravens, and Texans with a healthy starting QB all still seem like favorites over the Patriots.

I suppose this post constitutes as "hating" but I consider it more like "shrugging".

Ha. Just goes to show why most Pats fans should stick to hockey. ANS (AdvancedNFLStats.com) ranked Lloyd #61 among all receivers in 2011; FO (FootballOutsiders.com) had him even lower at #67.

Mike Wallace — a true downfield threat with the catch-rate (64%) and YAC (6.8) to prove it — ranked #18 and #5 respectively. Belichick knows Lloyd isn’t “elite” and paid him accordingly.
-------------------
Nice post. It's true, he's not as good as Wallace. However, is it worth a 1st rd. draft pick and a LOT more money to move from Lloyd to Wallace, given the other options Brady has? Perhaps.

Happy to have any kind of "threat" and looking forward to a defensive-minded draft.

I think all NFL fans realize the players live their own lives. That's not a NE thing. I'm sure NE has its share of bad posters but so does NY - Giants posters were boasting quite a bit and gloating as well after the SB, both here and on espn boston and boston globe sites. You are by far the most frequent non-Pat poster on Patriot stories, always with negative comments. It's tiresome, bitter and unnecessary. Have a beer, post something with facts and without vitriol, and relax.

> bozosforall
>Except for the fact that the vets are one year older and closer to retirement. Easy for idiot Pats fans to ignore facts when they can live in dreamworld.

The Pats have 2 young 2nd year guys to replace Faulk, who are more explosive than their current RBs - Vereen and Ridley from LSU. They have several vets on OL but also Solder, Cannon, and
Vollmer, each 3rd year or less.

The D is young and Deadrerick, Love, Spikes, Arrington, McCourty and Moore all are young, played a lot, and should get stronger and/or better. Plus CB Dowling and S Barrett come back from IR. The leaders are Chung who is 24, Mayo who is 26 and Wilfork who is 30. This D was dramatically better at year end and just added a strong DL (from Cincy) and S Gregory who is an upgrade over half the guys they played.

If Brace or Cunningham or Markell do anything, that's accretive.

Question marks remain re Anderson and Carter, but they have more cap space and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, which probably yields a young OL and 3 possible studs on D w/ WR needs now filled. Conservatively, 2 of those top 4 picks will contribute. With Lloyd and Gregory signed, there are fewer holes and a lot less risk that they get squeezed on draft day, where numerous DLs are available. They have signed every key ST contributor so ST needs are addressed.

If they get a good safety in the draft, this team will be more complete than any they have fielded in 12 years.

Net - net ST looks the same, offense looks slightly better, and D still adding via FA and draft.

These are the facts and they suggest - barring major injuries - a better more complete team.

>Except for the fact that the vets are one year older and closer to retirement. Easy for idiot Pats fans to ignore facts when they can live in dreamworld.

The Pats have 2 young 2nd year guys to replace Faulk, who are more explosive than their current RBs – Vereen and Ridley from LSU.

If Brace or Cunningham or Markell do anything, that’s accretive.

It’s a bad signing. 10 seasons in the NFL, 6 different teams, ONE good season. Oh ya he’s real great. 2012′s Ocho Cinco. Oh and I’m a Pats fan bashing this horrendous signing.

Ocho Cinco was a much better WR than Brandon Lloyd, though out their careers.
