Anthony Gonzalez, the former first-round draft pick of the Colts who has been plagued by injuries, will get a second chance in New England.
The Patriots announced on Saturday afternoon that Gonzalez has signed.
Gonzalez was the Colts’ first-round pick in the 2007 NFL draft, and he showed some promise early in his career, catching 37 passes for 576 yards in his first season and 57 passes for 664 yards in his second.
But Gonzalez was lost for the season in the first game of 2009 and hasn’t been able to stay healthy or produce on the field since then. Since the end of the 2008 season Gonzalez has played in a total of 11 games and caught five passes.
