Pats take flier on once-promising pass rusher Trevor Scott

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots have signed Trevor Scott, formerly of the Raiders.

Scott was one of the NFL’s most underrated young pass rushers during his first two seasons. He’s struggled mightily since, in large part due to injuries.

Scott still has young legs, though, and the Patriots can offer him a chance for playing time because they need edge rushers. Scott can pressure the quarterback from linebacker and defensive end.

He could two years ago, at least.

Scott was the No. 93 player on the PFT Hot 100.

Sooner or later the Pats are gonna have to start puuting actual talent on that defense instead of bargain basement patchwork vets and draft busts

He was a good Raider until he blew his knee up. Big Reg should have kept him for the minimum, but that’s the way it goes. Good luck.

Scott looked like a real steal his first couple of years. Then blew out his knee in 2010 and was invisible in 2011. But that’s typical for a player a season removed from knee surgery. Raiders should’ve kept him to see if he could fully bounce back this year. Could be a real steal for the Pats.
