We all will know soon enough how this plays out. LOLing at all of the “I can’t stand Harbaugh” comments. How does one hate another whom they’ve never met nor really know anything about? I mean really, how much do any of you Harbaugh haters know about the guy? Have you ever met him? Did he act like a jerk to you?

Let’s not forget here that the 49ers have had a 3 year deal on the table for Alex for a few weeks now and he didn’t sign it. If he had, the Niners never enter the Manning chase. I assume they are prepared to throw Kap in there if both go elsewhere with Tolzen the backup…..yikes!

If the worst scenario for the 49′ers happens, and Alex Smith signs with the dolphins, and for some weird reason peyton manning does choose another team, prob would only be the titans, it looks like Colin Kaeperninck will need to develop real quick into a starting QB. I think CK isn’t ready to take the starting reins, but in SF it shouldn’t be too hard to be efficient, heck alex smith did it right?

I meant Josh Johnson, but Josh Jackson is probably a better QB than Alex Smith is, plus Fringe is gonna get cancelled so he might be looking for work.
My overall point being there are plenty of average QB’s out there. Alex Smith isn’t someone you don’t chase Peyton Manning for, and if he doesn’t like it and leaves it’s no big loss.

I would love to see Smith fire Condon, which would be right. I am sorry, I know Condon represents Manning and Smith – however it is a real conflict of interests right now and isn’t doing right by smith.

I would then love to see Smith going to Miami or Seattle.

And last but not least, I would love to see Manning go to Denver or Tennessee.

That would be just frickin awesome.

Smith proved last year that he can make tough throws in close games and make them in the fourth quarter He made a late throw against Seattle that was thirty yards down the sideline to basically win the game. It was every bit as good as Eli Manning’s throw to Maningham in the Super Bowl. The 49ers opened up the offense as the year towards the end of the year and Smith responded. At the same time I understand the team not wanting to give him a long term deal for the same reason Seattle won’t give Flynn a long term deal.

Does anybody seriously think that the 49ers offered Alex Smith a fair contract! If they did he would have signed it. More than likely they low balled him and offered him a backup contract because they knew they were going after Manning. And with them sharing the same agent, Im sure Smith knew they were going after Manning too, but he played the part and waited. Now he knows Manning is signing. But dont blame Smith for not signing the contract earlier. It was never a legitimate offer.

You know he WAS a former 1st overall pick. Not that it means anything or much. BUT. He also NEVER had any constancy at OC or overall path, during his entire time in the NFL.

I could care less about the guy personally and I’m not a SF fan.

But, Id love to see that guy tell SF to p*ss off and head somewhere else and turn out a Hall of Fame career.

That would be just and awesome, for them jerking with him. AGAIN. After all the loyalty the guy has shown the team.

But, what do i know.

Harbaugh’s ego is going to hurt the niners eventually I think. He’s been so pump up this last year by people, that he might believe he can put anyone at QB and win if he strikes out with PM. For niners fans I hope he can.

Hmm, as a Packer fan you must have a short memory. If my memory is correct, your team pushed aside a first ballot HOF’er for a guy who had about one half of NFL experience (vs the Cowboys) and spent the rest of his time riding the bench or on IR. Things seem to have worked out OK there though?

You could not be more incorrect. The agency that represents both Peyton and Alex is doing ALEX a disservice by not looking out for his best interest. Alex Smith has every right to look for a new agent, and at this point, it is well advised to do so. Just like you said, it’s a business, and right now Alex is getting screwed by his representation.

Big Niner fan here and I have always been an Alex backer, but this is Peyton F. Manning. Roll the dice.

If Alex signs with someone else, we’ll manage. Niners have had a deal on the table for awhile. If Manning chooses Tennessee, Hasselbeck becomes available.

I’d love to have Alex back, but this is Peyton F. Manning.

I wonder how Condon is working this whole thing since Manning and Smith are his clients?? Maybe that’s why Alex is visiting Miami today… Condon told him SF is set at QB.

Wrong. Alex’s year was 80% coaching, 20% Smith.

If the 49ers lose out on both QBs, they will sign Josh Johnson, who Harbaugh made a great QB with SD State and he and Kaep will compete for the job.

As Ray Ratto put it, Alex has never been the right guy, he was just the right guy now.

Alex Smith has been dealing with this his entire career. He is a decent QB who deserves better- he should jump ship and stick it to the 49ers. If they sign Manning, he will be released anyway.

Colin Kaepernick can throw for a TON, if given the chance ! If both Peyton & Smith are gone, Harbaugh will coach him up as his ego will not let him fail for having lost the “Peyton Sweepstakes” and Smith to Miami. Colin has “skills” write it down.

Before 49ers even decided to jump in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes – Smith was offered a contract initially. He held back & didn’t sign. To me, that was his chance to negotiate. In the end, whoever the 49ers sign is all good with me.

Wish Smith all the best if decides to go to the Phins or Seahawks.

There are 3 facts to remember here:
1. Most 49ers players who choose Condon do so because he has a long history of getting deals done with the team.
2. Alex has had the contract on the table for a while so there is a high posibility that Condon is pushing Manning to SF and Smith elsewhere as it is more lucrative than having another CAA client like Tebow traded.
3. Harbaugh will plug in Manning, Smith, Kaepernick, Tolzien, Josh Johnson, Flynn, or the local grocery bagger and they will still be successful. Alex played well but most of it was the Defense and ST that carried them that far

Whether the dolphins sign flynn, smith, tannehill or any rookie, the fins will be superior to the jests as a team and at the qb position. The proof is that the fins whipped the jests in the final game of the season in a must win game for the jests to make the playoffs.

With “I like hot dogs” flanchez and coach “el gordo” ryan, jests are destined to the cellar of the afc east.

All I know is the 9rs better have a QB that can put the ball right in Randy’s hands because he will give no effort to go and get it. And if it’s not right in his hands he will be the Randy Moss of 2 years ago. It all blows up this year in San Fran. Mark my words Crabtree will be a problem this year.

Chances are the reason for the delay in Manning making an announcement are because they are hammering out the details of the contract. He’ll be a 49er.
