I think Flynn is going to be very good. The fact that Flynn knows the offense and the verbiage of the calls he will have to make puts him ahead of any other QB that has to start from scratch. He's a smart kid and should be given the chance. He may lay have a little on film, but damn did he look good in those 2 games. A guy just doesn't throw 6TD's in a game by accident. He has some skills.

I have been a Dolphins fan for 38 yrs (maybe a few more, but my memory under 7 years old??) Anyway, I am ashamed more by the attutude of our Fans than the actions of the Front Office or play on the field. We have limited talented and still won games.. We could have easily been 9-7. Yes, we play NE twice a year too. We are not that bad. Every year a few Receivers come out of nowhere. Who was Mike Wallace? Sanders made Wallace. For that matter, whi is Sanders? If you field 4 decent (not great) receivers ( not WRs, think Bush, Clay) in a West Coast, it wont matter what their name is! My proof is look at every receiver on the Packers. Jennings is good, but not considered elite. He is barely the leading receiver. They spread it around. They can plug any RB in and they were almost immune to a injury disaster. Its about the Type of Offensive strategy. I think we will come to find the best thing that every happened to the Fins is Philbin and his system. Get Flynn, he is ready to play. Even "pro ready" rookies take time. One more thing, please cut the Kolb references out. Unless you have a Magic Ball, it is all speculation. Go Phins!

While Dolphins are concerned with who is going to throw the ball.a bigger concern should be who is going to catch it.

The fins will sign Flynn then trade up to 4 with the Browns and take Blackmon. The Browns can move to 8 and still get Tannahill ( not sure if I spelled that right but you know).

I am a long time Dolphin Fan and I appreciate you feeling sorry for me but don't. I am not defined by being a Dolphin Fan. There is much more to my being than that. I wish they would make some better decisions and win some more games but in the grand scheme of life it's really not a big deal. I'll be alright if they go 16 - 0 or 0-16. I'll be alright if they win 10 more SB's before I move on or if they never play in another one. But, dammit can somebody make a frickin decision and close a deal, any deal. My God, sign somebody already. Go Fins.

faithful209er >>> I love how Ross is trampled for going all out to get Harbaugh?! I believe it was genius. Jim didn't want to uproot his family from NorCal. Been there and don't blame him. But, Ross gets labeled a fool for trying?? I can only imagine how the Fin's season woulda panned out with Harbaugh at the helm? Hmmm? No offense, but the 9ers hadn't been scaring anyone until last year. I believe the blame should be placed squarely at the feet of Bill Parcells!!! Sparano would still be an O-line coach and Jeffey would still be a scout! And the Rams can have Fischer. Mediocre at BEST! Check his record. I hope to get Flynn and Peyton to SF. He may wind up with more rings than Eli!!!

I have to admit, I like what the Fins are doing this free agency. They're addressing the needs that the draft will not offer and are getting his players cheap, for the very first time. Parcells screwed this team by giving hefty contracts to nobodies. Ireland had a solid draft last year and foresee him having a better one this year. Although many of us don't agree, they realized that Brandon Marshall was not bringing playoffs to the franchise and was dropping around 40% of the balls thrown to him, they shipped him for 2 picks, which I thought was a great deal. Keep in mind that he is looking a possible suspension from the league and he will not become a civilized person any time soon. Great job Ireland!

Greg,
You don’t watch the Niners much, do you? You obviously have something against them- which is fine- but Alex Smith really did not play very well even last year. The coaching, game planning, and play of his teammates covered for a lot of weak play. Oh, and special teams and a ton of luck helped cover up for Smith last year, too. He is not much of a QB, and Harbaugh’s system has a track record of making EVERY QB who plays for him look decent in extended play. Josh Johnson, Andrew Luck, and Alex Smith all had success under Harbaugh. (NFL draft from DII, #2 NCAA, and NFC championship game, respectively.)

As an observer of Harbaugh for years here in northern California, it’s obvious that QB’s will have more success in his system, and it’s also obvious that Alex Smith is nothing special.

---------------------

I don't watch them a ton, but I have nothing against them. My point is more that it seems that if you have a quarterback who is successful in your system (regardless of what you think about that quarterback on their own), that you would try and keep continuity and keep up your success. Of course I understand why someone would want Peyton, but I don't understand why not be sure you keep Alex Smith.

That’s just the problem …… seems like EVERY quarterback since Marino has been asleep on offense. They hardly need another.

I like Matt Flynn in the two games we’ve seen him in, but with just two games under his belt, I doubt he could run ANY offense “in his sleep.

You are delusional. First, they said THAT offense. He could do it. Its the only one hes learned, studied and had worked into him for the past few years. GB is known for their extensive QB school in the offseason that still includes Mike McCarthy and Tom Clements, used to include Joe Philbin. Miami is the best place for him to succeed quickly. Yes we only have two games of him but he did more in those two starts than he Kolb did in his seven. Flynn has also show no signs of wavering durability either. Quit hatin and blame what the obvious problem in Miami has been, no QB has been given a true chance, not Henne, no Moore, not Clemens, no one. Flynn, with a chance, will succeed.

Frist to say
Is their a law for taking money from a team and can’t get the job done?

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Nope, and it's funny how players have great years and want more money "because we don't get guaranteed contracts" but when they spend the year on IR or have a crap year they don't try to give any back. It is what it is, and I'd prefer to not hear those complaints unless they give their money back when they stink or are hurt (which I think would be silly, just as public whining and holding out when you are UNDER CONTRACT is).

Then why are they after Peyton? Just put Harbaugh out on the field or let him take someone like John Beck and turn him into a winner

1. No, they're after Peyton because he's one of the best to ever play the game, and he's available.

2. Yeah, John Beck. Sounds good. Put him on the Niners, and we're back in the playoffs. And you know it's true because Harbaugh will coach him up and simultaneously hide his flaws.

The line on comments about Matt Flynn always centers around his "limited" experience. Starting two games is limited REGULAR season action. But I've had the pleasure of seeing him in pre-season for a number of years as well. The Dolphins would be getting a good one, probably better than when M. Hasselbeck went to Seattle from Green Bay. Most people forget Flynn beat out Brian Brohm for the top backup job in Green Bay. Brohm came out of college highly touted(similar to the hype for Luck and RGIII as "pro ready", we'll see) and Flynn as an afterthought. He not only beat out Brohm, but was able to move the Packers offense with ease. Philbin and Mike Sherman will have a dynamic offense in Miami, and Flynn is the guy to run it.

Greg,
You don't watch the Niners much, do you? You obviously have something against them- which is fine- but Alex Smith really did not play very well even last year. The coaching, game planning, and play of his teammates covered for a lot of weak play. Oh, and special teams and a ton of luck helped cover up for Smith last year, too. He is not much of a QB, and Harbaugh's system has a track record of making EVERY QB who plays for him look decent in extended play. Josh Johnson, Andrew Luck, and Alex Smith all had success under Harbaugh. (NFL draft from DII, #2 NCAA, and NFC championship game, respectively.)

As an observer of Harbaugh for years here in northern California, it's obvious that QB's will have more success in his system, and it's also obvious that Alex Smith is nothing special.

smith is going to be a back up with any other team so he will only be a starter for the 49ers, Flynn is going to the phins because of oc philbin... And Seahawks will keep on looking... And if manning wants money he's going to the denver with all that cap room they got left but they won't be Super Bowl contenders, with the titans only receiver they got is Kenny britt that came off of injuries (still not a playoff team)... But manning to the niners they have veteran wide receivers that make big plays, a top 5 tight end, a 3 time pro bowl running back that can catch, a solid o line mixed with veterans and young talent, numer 1 run defense, a pass defense that was 16 but will only improve and cause a lot of pass deflection and turn overs and on too of that the got one of the best special teams in the league with an all pro kicker and punter... so the niners are just a franchise qb away from winning it all... They did it last season with an avg qb in smith but manning would make this teams offense dangerous for the next few years.

It won't matter!! I'm a Phins fan for a long time. Almost 30 years without a Superbowl visit, 40 years without winning a Superbowl and 16 Qb's since Marino retired. This franchise is a joke and as long as Ireland and Ross are around, the only mention of a Superbowl in Miami will be if they play the game in Miami. This offseason makes me sick.
