McCoy is a great talent. The Browns just keep making no moves or bad ones. Get McCoy a OL and a few playmakers. And when you get them PAY them, unlike Hillis. Like him or not he is a great runner and better receiver and was never used as that. Watch him tear up the league this year with someone that will use him right.

Name a USC QB taken high in the draft that has been better than average? Palmer? NOT, Leinert? NOT Cassel? NOT Sanchez?
------------------------------------------------------
i dont base things on schools. look at Tennessee, name me another QB besides Manning who played well??? what about Baylor??? i dont base arguments on that. Barkley isnt Palmer, he's REALLY not Leinart, he's no Cassel and he's also really is NOT Sanchez. i think Barkley's arm is better than Sanchez's and much better than Leinart's.

another thing, i think Palmer WAS better than average. Before his injury bug bit him, he was having great years and Cassel wasnt picked high, he was a backup at USC and was drafted in a later round.

anyways, he likely will be the top pick, but it's not a suck for Luck type of deal because if Bray comes out, he will be looked at, if Tyler Wilson or Jones have great years, then they could take that spot from him too.

Just cuz he's the top prospect does not mean that the Browns will have to suck to get him. To be honest, the Browns are putting together a very young and talented team and I expect to see several new weapons in this draft on offense.
I don't think Browns fans should dislike the owner. Randy Lerner does what a good owner should do --- he opens his checkbook when asked and he doesn't meddle in football decisions. The problem is that the guys making the football decisions just aren't showing any evidence of progress. In the past 4 years the team has gone 5-11, 4-12, 5-11, 4-12. And now they can't even get a new QB when it's clear that one is needed. Do you see any sign of progress? I sure don't.

Tannehill is nothing like McCoy, and McCoy is nothing like Brees. Tannehill is built like a proto-typical NFL quarterback. McCoy is not. McCoy made big plays with his legs in college, but he can't do that in the NFL...too much speed on NFL defensive fronts.
How is Barkely better than Tannehill? I don't see it.

Only here in Cleveland do people talk about the next year’s draft before the current draft. Boy am I getting really sick of this.

We are always going to be known as ‘Wait for next year.’

-------------------------------------------------------
Obviously you haven't met Lions fans.

In 09 it was suggested by many a fan to draft Jason Smith, with the full intention of sucking, and getting Bradford the next year. Those fans didn't even want Curry because they were frightened that he might help them win an extra game or two.

Prime position to draft a QB with the #1 pick and they wanted the Lions to go into 09 targeting the next #1 pick.

Any QB is going to struggle with that JV cast of receiving targets. Mass is not a #1 receiver. Neither is Little. However, with the right threat on the side of him, Little could definitely be the #2 WR. As it stands, with the crew of receivers they have, no QB can succeed. At least ADDRESS the issue. A bunch of 3rd, 4th, and 5th round receivers will not get you anywhere. Until the WR issue is ironed out, the Browns will struggle.

Its a shame to see the "business only" side of a franchise in a true football town. Owners and GMs know how to win. Yet some owners clearly spend only what they have to, fill the positions as needed with anyone they can find, and pocket the profits. The GMs do what their told and collect their salaries. I feel bad for Cleveland, and I am going to root for them as my 2nd team as of right now.

As a Browns fan I think we all love our players but hate the ownership. As soon as we get a star player that deserves more money they get rid of them. Hillis should have gotten a new contract last year and all of that drama wouldn't have happened. Now he's gone. Our last good season was when we had Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr... both Pro Bowlers... but as soon as we had a 10-win season with them they were booted out for cheaper players. The fans will always sell out the stadium no matter who is playing and we will always be watching on Tv.

We are being taken advantage of by the ownership.

I’d rather see Charles Barkley play QB. for the Browns. This kid is overhyped, Mccoy will be a pro bowl QB. before its all said and done.
---------------------------------------------
Your team president, supposedly one of the best judges of QB talent in NFL history, tried to make a deal to move up in the draft to replace him.

You call Barkley "overhyped", then follow that up stating that Colt will be a pro bowl QB in the future. Now that's irony.

@sudz28: Yeah, we Browns fans are giving up on the 2012 season a little earlier than usual this year. It's called "being realistic." Now that we know we aren't getting a new QB, why wait? We've seen this movie before.

There is no Steelers/Browns rivalry, by the way. It's more like a twice-annual date of execution.

Only in f@&$ing Cleveland. Love my city. Love my Browns. This is ridiculous. I agree with Jenniferxxx - a "20 year plan to make the playoffs."

The NFL has changed. Teams are turning it around in a couple years. I just think Holmgen and the rest of Bob Lamonte's guys in the front office will not adjust their "system" or "process" to today's NFL climate.

Frustrating.

Wow, normally the Browns wait until at least week 3 before giving up on the entire season. Sounds like this time they're ending the suspense early and giving up prior to the pre-season?

Man o man do I miss the days of the Steelers/Browns rivalry.

It's been said already but that is why I wanted to comment...yeah USC isn't really known for its QBs. I can't think of the last one that came out that was any good...we have seen what Sanchez, Booty, Leinart and Palmer are capable of and to be honest...it isn't much. I would also like to throw something out there...I wouldn't be surprised to see some other QB come to the front of the pack next year; Heisman talk etc. It does happen.

All of this being said, I would hope the teams and fans are focused on this draft and this season. That is why it is such a great game and why we are fans in the first place, isn't it? I can't wait to see how it all shakes out. Come on September!
