The Jets’ aggressive push for LaRon Landry has paid off.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter ‏reports that Landry reached an agreement with the Jets on a one-year, $4 million deal.

For the Jets, it’s a big move that shores up the safety position, which was a big question mark in their defense. When he’s healthy Landry can be a tough, physical playmaker who looks like he should be a good fit for Rex Ryan’s schemes.

The big question is whether he’ll be healthy for 16 games in 2012. Landry missed eight games last year and seven the year before, and the Achilles injury he suffered last year is a concern. But if Landry is healthy, this is a big deal for the Jets.
