Old Colts gang may be reunited in Denver

Peyton Manning Pic

MDS passed along news earlier today that the Broncos had broached the idea with Peyton Manning of bringing former Colts center Jeff Saturday to Denver, should Manning sign with the team. Manning will do so soon.

The Broncos are taking the next step in their pursuit of the five-time Pro Bowl center.

Per NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, the Broncos have scheduled a free agent visit with Saturday. La Canfora also reports that the Broncos will “likely” sign former Colts slot receiver Brandon Stokley.

More ex-Colts that could land in Denver include tight end Dallas Clark, as MDS also suggested, and free agent running back Joseph Addai. Addai lacks dynamic running ability, but he is a trusted pass protector and check-down receiver.

Most of the above signings should be affordable, not that the Broncos are up against the salary cap. Addai and Clark have drawn little to no interest in free agency, and nor has Stokley.

All three of those players may be willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum.
