Broncos next on Tracy Porter’s free agent tour

ESPN’s Bill Williamson reports that the Denver Broncos will host free agent cornerback Tracy Porter at their club headquarters on Wednesday.

Porter was in Tennessee on Tuesday meeting with Titans officials.

In Denver, Porter’s signing would likely cost Andre’ Goodman his starting job, and potentially his roster spot altogether. Goodman turns 34 before the season and is owed $4.62 million in base salary.

Porter is the top cornerback left on the 2012 free agent market. He has drawn interest from the Raiders, Bengals, Rams, Broncos, and Titans, among others.

Porter was expected to visit Raiders headquarters early this week, but that meeting was postponed after Oakland signed Shawntae Spencer to go along with Ronald Bartell.

This is the guy who Marshawn Lynch stiffarmed into a new galaxy during the BeastQuake playoff run.

Hi-jack the plane and land it in MN!

Wonder how PM feels about his SB pick-six nemesis being a teammate?

Would be a nice upgrade. Good corner, and definitely younger.

How weird might it be though, being that Tracy is the guy who returned that Pick 6 in the SuperBowl vs Manning? Ha!

Pick 6. I bet Peyton knows what I am saying.

Figures the Raiders wouldn’t pay him.

Man Tracey Porter is a good player (Except for getting stiff armed to the ground during BEASTQUAKE). I’m very surprised that the Saints are letting him go.

well with Reggie signing Underwood, Spencer, Lambert, and Bartells, to go along with sheppard, DVD, and Chimde…raiders seem to be set at db.

Now how about a LB, and TE

how much cap room does this team have?

  11. rculross7 says: Mar 20, 2012 3:19 PM

If Porter signs, that would be a funny reunion between Manning and the guy who picked him off to seal Manning’s Super Bowl loss.

Gets past Manning. And it’s Tracy Porter taking it all the way. Touchdown New Orleans. :)

Makes sense. The biggest pass of Manning’s career ended up in Porter’s hands. Just another Peyton choke. 9-10 in the postseason.

2nd only to the Bengals…the Broncos were at $44,700,000 on March 7th.

of course he stops in denver. good, young corner. definitely would be a good pickup with champ getting old.

Now that QB has been addressed, CB and RB are the Broncos biggest needs. I was hoping to see them pursue Brandon Carr, but at 5/$50M he was a bit overpriced. I think they’d like to draft one early anyway (Stephon Gilmore?), but signing Porter is an improvement over the current options. One way or another, they have to secure the services of someone to take over as the #1 guy when Bailey either retires or is moved to FS in a couple years.

Update on the cap space as of the 15th:

The Broncos have the most cap space as of this (not counting the Manning signing, of course).

    One of Manning’s favorite receivers!

This is definitely an upgrade at a spot the Broncos need it…..go get another safety too!

It also the guy that intercepted Manning in the Superbowl to ensure the Saints win.

BTW: Aaron Curry played great for the Raiders last year Einstein, too funny! lol. :D

Tracy Porter is average at best. Don’t forget he was part of that playoff secondary that made Alex Smith look like Joe Montana. He’s a poor mans DeAngelo Hall…Great at times, horrible at others, a non-factor more than not.

How about getting Yeremiah Bell from Miami. Heard he was released.

no reggie wayne to underthrow anymore. so it may work out for peyton.

  24. thcnote says: Mar 20, 2012 7:53 PM
