the 49ers are back to their winning ways and they’re continuously improving each year. When the niners were doing bad for the past 8 seasons fans from other teams didn’t fear them. Now they’re becoming successful again, fear is instilled in the minds of the rival fans. Fear constitute hate and these bitter rival fans are going to hate. Bring it on ladies, the niners are here to stay and don’t be surprise if the niners go all the way and win it all.

how can you say nothings changed and they are the laughing stock? Balke, and Harbaugh both got awards for GM and coach of the year. You saw it with your own eyes. The record spesks for itself. Whether you like it or not, the team just had big signings to help the team further. We had one of the biggest offseasons to date, and would of had the one of all time had PM thought about getting to the superbowl quicker as opposed to possibly facing his brother.

The game is cyclical, and the 9ers are on the way up.

Anyone saying the Niners are lucky to resign Alex is being a bit ridiculous. As a Niner fan I am glad to keep our team in tact, but Josh Johnson could throw 18 TD passes a season on our team too. Alex justs needs to suck it up; like all us fans did for 7 seasons of no playoff appearances.

Give Alex Smith some $8M/year break. The QB is only as good as the offensive line, the receivers and coaches. You want proof, watch Superbowl XLVI again to see how NE Patriots lost that game.

It is a team sport, everyone needs to do their task, the game will need to be managed to your advantage. (what do you think running the clock down is….cannot decide what to pick on the menu?)

Now…if I were Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, Colin Kaepernick, I will go back old school training like Joe Montana, start hanging old tires and practice throwing balls thru them to improve my accuracy.

While it’s true that the team has stuck with Smith longer than any other team would have, it’s understandable that it would be confusing to Smith for this to be happening now, after his most successful season ever – coming within a few plays of the Super Bowl.

Hopefully there’s solace in the fact that only the (arguably) greatest QB of all time could make them look away from him. Without Manning on the market, he’d have been re-signed without any question.

The NFL generates billions of dollars a year and makes the professional sport of football one of the best sports on the planet so let’s not forget that this is a BUSINESS first. The teams, not the agents, not the players, not the media set the value of these players. Alex Smith is not the first player to be insulted when the team shopped around for a difference maker at any position… that’s their job. And to be fair, no one ‘wronged’ anyone in this predicament – not Peyton, not Harbaugh, not York, not Baalke, not Alex Smith and no one should take anything personally, not even Tebow. This is ‘part of the process’. I’m personally proud to be a 49er fan again. I’m proud of Baalke, Jed York and especially Jim Harbaugh who’s probably gotten the most inappropriate flak in all of this. They continue to be all business which is exactly what made this team great in the 80′s and 90′s. Fans eventually learned not to question Bill Walsh’s brash personnel moves. His model set a standard for NFL franchises to follow as a business operation during his tenure and the most successful teams of this new age (post 80′s and 90′s) like NE, PIT, GB, NYG, etc have all adopted and expanded on his business-like approach. But there was a time when fans called him all the same names some ‘fans’ here are labeling the 49ers with. I’m glad Alex is back. He and most unbiased fans are confident he’ll improve in his 2nd season under the same system for the first time in his career. If he doesn’t, certainly there are other QBs who can and will succeed with the solid structure York, Baalke and Harbaugh have established with this new generation 49er team.

The 49ers did Smith dirty. Smith has had some poor coaching in his NFL career and showed this past year he is capable of playing. What the 49ers did to him is insulting. I hope when and if the 49ers actually have sustained success that Smith repays them with a holdout and a raised middle finger.

This kid has gone through alot of drama in his career (drama being low points). It would be a nice feel-good story to see him put up a few stat laden winning seasons just to silence his many critics.

Us 49er fans can only hope a full training camp with Harbaugh, plus the new weapons we got and will acquire, will make Smith even better than last year. As long as he plays mistake free, we can make just as far, if not all the way.

I’m glad he’s coming back. I have a feeling he’s going to have a great season. Granted, the feeling’s not based on anything, but there you go.

I wish the Niners had a quippy tag line like Oakland. Nothing matches the eloquence of unprovoked and unoriginal insults with that splendid RAIDERS NATION at the end. Never have so many people been so proud of so much mediocrity.

And what leverage did San Fran have in the end? They would’ve been stuck with some scrub at QB if Smith had moved on to a place like Miami or Jacksonville. There was nobody left to go after once Manning and Flynn signed elsewhere. Garrard? Haha okay. The botom line is that neither the 49ers or Smith had any leverage left as it pertains to that particular relationship.

And Smith wasn’t exactly handed a good situation in San Fran until Harbaugh got there…..for those claiming he should take what he gets and like it. How many offensive coordinators since he got there? How many different offensive systems? The Mike Singletary reign of terror? Last year Smith showed what could’ve been all along if the 49ers hadn’t been such a clusterf*#k of an organization.

Cry not for Alex . He is a $100,000,000, many times over playing for the Genghis Khan of head coaches. He has his chance to improve and raise his stock. He will have one of the best group of offense players to support him. He will also have the best defense the N.F.L. has to offer. If not ? Alex would tell you “it’s been one hall of a ride”.
