Getty ImagesIf 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh really wants Josh Johnson to play for him again, Harbaugh is going to have to start moving more quickly.
The Washington Redskins are showing significant interest in the free agent quarterback, and Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports Johnson will be visiting Mike Shanahan’s team on Wednesday.
Johnson’s stats look poor on paper. He has completed just 54.2 of his career passes with a 5:10 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The game tape on Johnson is better, though, as he is capable of making throws in the vertical passing game and is a dangerous rushing threat.
In Washington, Johnson could vie with Rex Grossman for No. 2 quarterback duties. Baylor’s Robert Griffin III is expected to be the Redskins’ 2012 starter.

Why are people actually pursuing this guy? I mean, he has raw talent and it’s a thin QB market right now, but he seems pretty bad overall…
Guess you could coach em up.
Bad day to visit lol. RGIII’s pro day is tomorrow!
The entire FO will be in Baylor!
Grossman and Josh Johnson? Maybe they aren’t taking RG3….
I’ll take him over Beck. Push Gross Rex to 3rd string, have him backup up RG3. HTTR
Man, my Skins are gonna have a legit QB. YAY YAY! HTTR.
He sucks
Don’t know too much about Johnson but hopefully he gets signed; John Beck is turrible
The LOLSKINS must be desperate if they want this bust.
Can he play on the offensive line, or the secondary? ‘Cause that’s what we really need.
hmm…zero chance to start in Washington or a 50/50 (right now) shot in S.F. That’s a tough choice.
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW……
This just in… Tim Tebow has officially lost his VIRGINITY… He has been F’d by the Broncos!
Re-sign 59
This would be an interesting pickup. Maybe he could unseat Rex.
I would be happy to see that.
Aren’t the redskins brass going to RGIII’s proday? I’m calling BS!
I am just glad that the skins traded for the pick when they did……there are a lot of desperate teams right now that could of snuck in and got that No.2 pick…..yea PEOPLE SAY we gave up a lot to get it but right now I bet there are a few teams out there that would put up for that No.2 pick…..HTTR Thanks Bruce Allen !!!! Sorry Holmgren
The Redskins don’t need RGIII when they have the legendary Josh Johnson coming in for a try out.
He is a VERY good qb, and the Browns should be looking at him, for him to consider the Redskins, not sure that’s puts him where he needs to be..which is starting in the league. The writer talks about his sub par completion percentage which is still over 50 percent, and a full 8 percent higher than that LAME tiny t..he should be playing in the AFL, IFL, or CFL but not the NFL.

if RG3 doesnt win a superbowl, or keep the redskins in contention for a while like 8 or 9 years then yes you gave up too much but if he does then to me its worth it. As of today too much for number 2
Under Harbaugh at U of San Diego, his passing stats were pretty phenomenal. In his senior year he threw one interception. No they aren’t Division 1, but still. He’s a great athlete with good character.
Never heard of him.
Makes sense for the Redskins: Johnson and Grossman may be equally inept, but Josh has the same kind of charisma that rg3 has, and Rex does not.
SIGN #59 & OL.
Can’t believe this guy threw for 48 TD’s and 1 INT in his senior year. Thought it was a typo.
Hey redskins fans, you did give up too much for rg3. This guy is doomed to fail with the expectations he’ll have. They would have been better off to take a chance on josh johnson and keeping their draft picks. Typical redskins move. Overpay as usual.
Good, fail.
If we are looking at SF castoffs, why not Chilo Rachal (OG) or Tedd Ginn Jr (KR/PR/WR) – seems like those would address more immediate needs than a 3rd string QB?
Like I’ve said before, when I’m sitting at the table, beer in hand, and I know better than the guys getting paid millions to run the franchise, we got trouble…

how much did you pay Williams to cough up the ball twice against the giants….it doesn’t matter, either way you clearly overpaid for him
“Check-Down Johnson” as the players called him in Tampa Bay has a million dollar arm and a five cent head. Solid abilities but his head is all wrong. Should have seen this coming as he was one of Raheem’s boys.
This would be a nice pick up, grossman as #3 sounds better. Let’s keep a clipboard in Rex hands.
