Disagree. Although a lot of us in the area would have liked to see Tebow go to JAX, there’s no question that many Jags fans didn’t want him (you see evidence of that in these comments). Gene Smith has made clear that he didn’t really want him, but I think the Jags felt compelled to at least make an effort to try to get him.

The end result (though disappointing to me and others) probably works out the best for everyone. Tebow goes where he’s actually wanted and the Jags don’t have to take a guy they really don’t want. Jags also get some deniability. They did attempt to get him (sort of), and that should be enough to keep the legions of Tebow fans at bay.

Ultimately, I think the Jags are leaving Jacksonville. Time will tell.

Btw, when the final outcome was Tebow getting traded for what basically amounts to a 4th round pick, I don’t think it makes any sense to classify the Jags’ efforts to get Tebow as “frantic.” The Titans offering Manning a lifetime contract is “frantic”. The Dolphins pursuit of Harbaugh last year was “frantic”. This seems like it was lukewarm at best.

1. People saying what a tragedy it is that Tebow didn’t go to Jacksonville. The didn’t want him in 2010. They didn’t want him now. get over it.

2. That, for some reason, this is going to be the end of Gene Smith in Jacksonville. Anyone who thinks this has no clue.

3. People who actually thought Tebow’s presence would sell more tickets.

4. Idiots who think that not acquiring a former college QB who can barely throw and got lucky by beating a pile of mediocre teams last season somehow means the Jaguars are now on the way out of Jacksonville.
