Hahahaha! The NFL has said the hit low on Favre where he threw the pick was ILLEGAL and should have been a personal foul (15 yards and game winner). The Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan incident should be enough to set precedent since it is the exact same thing. someone being paid to take out another athlete to change the out come of the game and better your own chance of winning.. Shawn Eckhardt was sentenced to 18 months for racketeering and this by definition is a case of Racketeering. A pattern of illegal activity carried out as part of an enterprise that is owned or controlled by those who are engaged in the illegal activity. This can also include Sports bribery- they were bribed to injured players to the point to take them out of the contest thus effecting betting outcomes.
If I was to pay someone $5000 to break someones leg I would go to prison immediately.

I remember watching a documentary on Jim Brown, probably the most physical runner ever. He stated he always got up slow whenever he was tackled because he didn’t want to let them know when he was hurt. The point is the defensive player is told to hit, to intimidate his opponent, make him feel each blow he delivers. Every now and then someone gets injured. But to openly put a bounty out to hurt certain players is unjust. I don’t disagree with the concept of rewarding good plays. It’s akin to parents rewarding kids for good grades. But say take player X out is wrong. As a Panther fan I am elated about the outcome of Goodell’s rulings, but a part of me does feel football is losing the foundation it was built on. That list of bounty targets was a who’s who of NFL qbs. Cam should be honored

Ok here we geaux again one more time for the idiot Saints fans out there. In 2009 Roger Goodell asked the Saints if they were using bounty’s. the simple answer would have been “i have heard something about it, but i will get to the bottom of it and i assure you Mr. Goodell this will never happen again”. But noooooo your entire organization kept it going, took outside money for it, had an email chain (seriously who does that?) and lied through their teeth when caught. The league lowered the boom for the cover up and the systemic nature of it. Keep up the “everybody does it” whining. Tanya Harding probably thought everybody beat the knees in of their rivals too. Cover ups are always worse just ask Nixon.

How honorable can a sport be when there is rampant PED use, and they still don’t test for HGH, not to mention how many guys are beating the current drug testing system? The only honor in football is gained by winning the game and getting paid. While I’m not against the Saints punishment, I understand that football is a brutal, dangerous, and ugly game at times, I’m okay with that. You people that have this notion that what the Saints did was so horrible because of the honor or integrity of the game should start paying attention. They’re being punished because they got caught and are being made an example of. If you think Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and the rest of the Vikings D weren’t trying to do the same thing to Brees, you’re delusional and naive. Were some of the hits on Favre illegal?(I can only recall one hit that was missed by the officials, but then again I’m not a Vikings fan. In fact I would say if you want to blame someone for the loss blame the officials, not anything the Saints did.) Sure, but that happens in every game. Calls get missed. Here’s a thought: if you don’t want to get your QB hit make sure you’ve got a decent offensive line. If you want honor and integrity in your sports, watch golf.

Maybe this is why Breesus is playing hardball in negociations. He knows that the teams his Saints defense targeted as going to put him in the crosshairs.

Not a Saints fan but I find it interesting to see all the happy fans because of the suspension. I don’t agree with the bounty, I think it is in poor taste. I do however know that this is just the beginning. It would be childish to think the Saints are the only team that has ever done this. In the day and age of free agency’s ‘here today across the street tomorrow’ environment, it might be smart gamesmanship to “snitch.” If a guy could get his old Head Coach tossed out for a year and even the score with him from when he cut you, that might be a win/win. It might weaken a competitor and feel warm and fuzzy.
