“Right or wrong, good or bad, Warren Sapp was being Warren Sapp. Those behind the scenes who put him on the air to talk about what he had said on Twitter are the ones to whom a message or two apparently needs to be “stressed.””

Basically you’re saying Sapp is often reckless and exercises poor judgement so don’t blame him …. Blame the person who put him on the air. If Warren Sapp is so dim that he doesn’t understand that what he did was wrong, he doesn’t deserve to have the job as an on air personality.

Reality is that Sapp is no different than a Bounty participating N.O. player. He isn’t the same as the Defensive Coordinator who ran the Bounty program, nor even close to being the Team’s Coach. That would be the NFL Network’s Producer and Director. I trust that for NFL credibility, they get suspended, fined or otherwise disciplined along with Sapp.

I guess my first question would be, is Sapp required to follow the NFL’s social media policy and did he violate that in any way? Because if he is an employee of the NFL, his tweet alone should be an issue. And as if someone whose twitter handle is something like “qbkilla” should be commenting on this at all.

Then the Network was gross for bringing him on to discuss and name a name, right or wrong.

Side note, Sean Payton uses a lot of exclamation points in his texting. I had no idea that anyone in football used even one exclamation point, let alone multiple ones, multiple times. Flabbergasting.

If Shockey was the snitch, would he admit it? No.

So no one really knows if it was slander. A good clue is this…is Shockey doesn’t file a slander suit it’s because he knows Sapp cab subpeona official NFL documents to prove he spoke the truth.

But I will say this…he is more than welcome to join the Bucs staff as asst. Offensive Line coach.

They are waiting to see if Shockey files a defamation lawsuit against Sapp or the network or both – or if the uproar lasts more than a few more days. If any of those happen, Sapp will be fired.

It’s interesting to me that people just assume that because Shockey showed us a text message from Payton that it means he must be cleared. I used to do Loss/Prevention investigations for Best Buy and every single time we confronted an employee about being informed of his/her theft the first question they asked was always “who told you that?”. You think we actually told them who the informant was? Of course not! You think the NFL actually told Payton who the “snitch” was? Of course not! For the same reason this site chose not to post his name (although they posted his picture in that particular article). Payton doesn’t know who the informant is.

And I highly doubt any NFL source is going to tell a blog site like this either.

It’s also funny that even Shockey referred to the informant as “the rat”. So it’s hilarious to see people take up the cause for Shockey and yet he views “the rat” the same way all the other players do.

Maybe it’s Shockey. Maybe it isn’t. But there’s a reason that guy has the reputation he does among his peers…..and it’s not a good one.

All the nincompoops claiming Sapp outed the whistleblower, Sapp works for Nfl Network. They are owned by The Nfl, but Sapp has nothing to do with Ny. Sapp has every right to pass on news he learned. The snitch part was terrible, but the man has a right to report. He is not part of any rule m as king or discipline or investigation from the Nfl office. He has to be careful what and how his reporting may reflect on the league office, but the man can report things he learns independently.

I’m a lifelong Buccaneers fan and while it’s hilarious to see what the NFL did to the Saints it’s also stupid and a vast over reaction. If Sapp has concrete information about Shockey being the snitch then why shouldn’t he say something — if he’s wrong then he’ll receive his punishment but someone that played for the Saints did a bitch move and tattled about what was happening and did so in a way to hurt the team. The NFL isn’t the government so I know there is no right to face it’s accuser, but at the same time to basically destroy a franchise for a number of years (which this will do) anonymously is just ridiculous so more power to Sapp for outing the snitch.
