The only two guaranteed spots are Welker and Lloyd, Ocho, Branch, Gonzalez, and Stallworth will all battle it out for the other two WR spots. Ocho is the most talented of the group battling for the last two spots and has the ability to be the best receiver on the field. Last year was a big time miss and I hope he takes the offseason and camp seriously and shows improvement. He should know the playbook by now with all the time he spent on the bench last season so that better not be a problem again.

Between Gonzalez, Stallworth, Branch and Ocho, TWO of these guys will NOT make the roster. They are all on one year, low risk deals. If Edelman makes the team, then they’ll have Edelman and Slater at the back end of the WR group. The 4 mentioned above are for the 3rd and 4th WR spot with Wleker and Lloyd being 1 and 2. That’s a pretty tough competition at WR if all stay healthy (Gonzalez particularly).

I am rooting for Chad. I have always liked th eguy. He is funny and there isn’t a bad bone in him. His Twitter followers are constantly being treated with appearances and even dinners (he recently did one, but I remember he did one in Cleveland one Friday before a Browns game while he was in Cincy, for over 100 fans!)

Chad is a likable guy and I wish him nothing but the best.

I really dont think he is done. If you watch the limited reps he got in situations where he didnt need to actually read the defense. Like late in the first half on a drive before the half where he cut just run a route, instead of having to make a route decision at the snap like the PAts WR’s usually have to do. In those situations he could get open.

He got behind the defense a few times as well. Once on the ball he dropped in Buffalo, and another time on his TD at Denver.

You could see Brady having to direct him all over the field when he left the huddle. He still has the ability, he just never learned the system. I dont know if he can, but its worth a shot for 1 million

Maybe I’m naive, but I think this is a great deal for both parties. If the Pats can get him to be a shred of what he was a few years ago, 1 mil is a steal. Ochocinco is going to have to be a lot more than a shred of what he was to make the team, and that could help them get back to the big show. He wants a ring, they want productivity. Either way, 1 million isn’t a bad price for either at this point.

Anyone that says Chad is playing another year for the million dollars has not followed his career. The guy doesn’t care about the money. One year he set aside $100,000 for the celebration fines he planned to earn. Although this behavior and the trouble learning the New England playbook is not evidence of a great intelligence, the guy is a marketing savant. Of all the teams that are early contenders for a ring, Ocho knows this is the only one he has a chance to sign with. He especially knows what a ring would do for his after football career.

I said kind of the same thing on another thread-despite his crap, I doubt many would label him a menace to society in any way. His clownish antics in the past have been kind of annoying at times, but the guy has seemingly kept his mouth running at minimum the last few years and he does take the time to communicate directly with his fans (and/or haters) more than any other NFL player that I know of. The fact that he publicly goaded Goodell a few years ago made me actually like the guy a bit in spite of myself.

My take on it is that he knows his time at in the NFL is coming to an end and he thinks the Pats offer him the best chance at a Super Bowl ring after he played for some horrible Bengals teams for years. If the Pats can get some production from him-a million sounds huge to most of us, but face it, for an NFL WR, it is bargain basement. Good luck to him even though I am not a Pats fan.

Lockout = Less time to learn probably the most complicated offensive playbook in football under one of the smartest coaches in the league. (This is coming from a Colts fan, so it’s an unbiased opinion)

While Ocho didn’t catch a lot of balls, on most of them he was wide open. Some of the blame has to go to O’brien or Brady. Maybe McDaniels will see to it that he is more involved.

Because of the tight end sets, a receiver sat down. When they used two WR’s, why was Edelman or a rookie in there instead of Ocho? Did the cone headed guy know the offense better?

If you subscribed to the, “One of Many Black Men’s” FB, you would know that he sent out a mass FB invitation to everyone to join him at one of his favorite restaurants in Harlem to help celebrate the owner’s bday.

“Dinner in NY tonight –> 1st 200 people at Sylvia’s Restaurant by 7 pm in Harlem. Leave ya money/credit cards at home. I got you this time.” — Ocho Cinco FB Status a couple weeks ago.

I originally subscribed to his FB for laughs, but after a few weeks I realized that he’s quite the eclectic and amazing individuals in the NFL.

Amazing how the only name you spelled correctly was Donte Stallworth.

With that said, Stallworth is obviously a camp body, and Gonzalez has to show he can stay on the field, or else he’ll be cut by week 1 as well. Lloyd and Welker will be a good #1 and #2, but imagine if Ochocinco regains HALF the player he was in Cincy and you add Hernandez and Gronk to a 5 wide set? Unstoppable.

Chad is a good guy. Very nice to his fans and has a lot of friends in the NFL but when it comes to his intelligence level..gosh he is way down. I hope he understands that he can still be valueable to another team. Why settle for less? Pats are cheap

i may be the only person who thinks chad will be great next year after he finally has a full offseason to work with brady and develop that chemistry that is important to perform in this offense…i think he’s going to surprise a lot of people next year and show why BB made the trade to get him
