You dunces, losing a player that went on to have great seasons has nothing to do with the process. It is about total dollars spent on incoming players versus total dollars given to free agents lost. If the team has a large differential then the team gets compensatory picks.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.

So since your beloved Redskins overspend on free agents every year, they don’t get many compensatory picks.

Redskins signed a lot of starters from other teams to cancel out Rodgers. Ex. Atogwe, Cofield, Bowen, Chester, Wilson and some others

Im guessing the Bengals canceled out losing Joseph by signing Clement, Lawson, Howard, Gradkowski and Scaife.

I’m a Bengals fan and I expected no Comp picks. Sure, we lost JJoe, but we got Thomas Howard, Manny Lawson, and Bruce Gradkowski. If you sign more than you lose, you don’t get anything in return. The Bengals signed more free-agents then they received. Had they not signed these guys, JJoe would have gotten us a 3rd easily.

2 4th rounders for Ted Thompson & Co. excites me. 7th rounders are a flip of the coin (If you know they’re going to be good, you would have drafted them earlier) but some value can be found in the 4th.
