First, special teams are a big part of the game. Signing a Pro Bowl special teams player would be a great acquisition. Unfortunately, Zack Bowman never made the Pro Bowl. Maybe you’re thinking of Corey Graham?

Bowman lost his job mid last season becuase of getting fool on plays besides his 2009 season he hasn’t done much if he proves he can start i see a bright future between these two.And this is coming from a vikings fan

I keep hearing about how bad the Vikings suck and no point in spending BIG$ on free agents Bc their is no shot at playoffs, u people are either ignorant Viking haters or just don’t watch many Viking games. The Vikings did go 3-13 but they did loose 9 games by 7 points or less and 1 game by 10 points, they were not as bad as their record implies (not saying they were good either) with a little help on defenestration’s and a little help on offense and they could have a shot ( key word shot) at they playoffs.

Cook, Carr, Bowman at CB and Winfield, Abdullah at Saftey and the secondary is better than last decade

Kalil, Johnson, Sullivan, Schwartz, Loadholt is a better line than last season

If they can get some one like A Jefferies in the 2nd round they would have a decent WR corps.

Not saying all that would happen but its possible!!!

As a Vikings fan, I am thrilled we have not over spent in free agency. No need to by a few big name players that won’t get us in the playoffs anyway. We are much better off building through the draft and bringing back EJ for one more year. The stadium deal will happen, it’s just a matter of time.

Is this the best Spielman can do? It sure looks like it. For a team trying desperately to land a new stadium, they certainly don’t appear very anxious to field a quality football team.

The Vikings are in dire need of an upgrade in the secondary. While Bowman may add something, it won’t be enough to crack the starting lineup with a secondary that is already sub-par. Meanwhile, we still don’t have one safety on this team worthy of being on an NFL roster, let alone starting. And what has Spielman done about? Nothing!

You know, you can actually find quality in free agency if you look hard enough. The Vikings did that a few years back with Antoine Winfield and Pat Williams. Big name, big money signings that contributed a great deal to the team’s success. Good GMs know this. Spielman apparently doesn’t.

I’ve thought that as well, but I honestly think that the “idiot legislature” will be voted out this fall and the environment will be more favorable to getting a deal done, and that’s what the Vikes are holding on to.

So with that in mind, I think Spielman is just temporarily filling in gaps while he tries to pull a GB and build almost entirely through the draft.
