APAdam Caplan reports that the Chiefs hosted unsigned Bengals linebacker Dan Skuta for a free-agent visit earlier this week.
Skuta is obviously far from a household name, but the visit is notable because he is a restricted free agent. It’s the first known restricted free agent visit of the 2012 offseason.
Per Caplan, Skuta may visit more teams in the coming days.
Skuta, 26 in April, was originally an undrafted free agent. So if an interested team put together a contract offer sheet the Bengals were unwilling to match, Skuta would become that team’s property free of draft-pick compensation.
Skuta made three starts in Cincinnati last season. He can play both strong-side and inside linebacker, and might be a candidate to start at the latter position in Kansas City. Skuta also runs down kicks and punts on special teams.

I heard that he’s the next Dick Butkus.
Is he tackling Mike Hart in the end zone? When has Mike Hart ever scored a touchdown?
I hadn’t heard of Skuta before this article, but I always like to see undrafted FA’s succeed. Good for him.
this is news?
I heard he choked on his own vomit….during a test?
He’s tackling a guy into the endzone there. Nice.
Silva, get your facts straight. This guy is a special teams BEAST. Teams aren’t looking at him as a starting LB whatsoever.
The family name was Scooter before his ancestors arrived here from Australia.
If Skuta leaves KC without accepting their offer, he’ll be receiving a visitor himself- one of the Pioli Gestapo agents (after the bug his phone of course).
Please don’t lose Skuta, he’s a SP team ace and a good Zimmer personnel guy. Need him, especially if we don’t sign Manny Lawson back.
I remember when Kevin Walter was an RFA for the Bengals, Houston signed him and only had to give up a 7th rounder… Not bad for a solid WR
I thought compensation was determined by what the team tenders the RFA. Lardarius Webb and Mike Wallace were not 1st round picks but the comp. is a 1st because of what the team tenders them as.

Correct.
Funny, I don’t remember Clarky Boy Hunt on National TV begging for him to “please, please just talk to us in KC!” like he did with Manning.
Skuta is a monster on special teams, also decent at filling in for Rey when’s out drinking and hanging out with young hunnies wrecking cars in Kentucky.
Dan “mota” Scuta!
It must stink to root for a team that has one article tagged on PFT for over a week.
Can you say irrelevant?
