Packers to host Dave Tollefson

New York Giants Tollefson celebrates after sacking New York Jets Sanchez in East Rutherford Reuters

We’ve entered a slower period of free agency, which means Packers G.M. Ted Thompson is beginning to get active. Green Bay has scheduled a visit with free agent tackle Demetrius Bell, and the club is also looking at potential pass-rush help.

Ty Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Packers have scheduled a free-agent visit with Dave Tollefson, a defensive end with the Giants who’d likely play outside linebacker in Green Bay’s 3-4. Per Dunne, Tollefson’s visit will take place on Thursday and Friday.

Tollefson, 29, registered five sacks in New York last season. He has also drawn interest from the Raiders and Seahawks.

Tollefson is a good rotational pass rusher that I’d want to have my team. Panthers, go sign this guy.

Boy, what an idiot Ted Thompson is. He should have blown all his money by overpaying mediocre, over-rated has-beens and never-weres the first week of free agency.

Ted is going crazy. Slow down brother, this isn’t Philly or Washington.

Sarcasim aside, it is good to see a little FA activity out of Green Bay. We have a talented team that needs help in a few positions to remain dominant. Hopefully this time it translates to the post-season.

    Welcome to Green Bay!

Dinner with Coach McCarthy at Carrows.

    And a walk through Lambeau.

Good reserve player…I can’t see him playing OLB though. I know the Packers need help on the other side of Matthews, but they better not expect Tollefson to be a starter. He disappears when starts…much better situational player.

    Its Teddy time!

All the “big name” free agents signed their huge contracts that will undoubtedly cause teams to manipulate the cap by restructuring the contracts of other players and as well as force those teams to let go of other decent players to free up cap space. Ted will pick up the scraps to fill specific needs.

The Packers actually drafted Tollefson. I was surprised that this wasn’t mentioned in the story.

How about a mention of the fact he was drafted by Green Bay and cut before the regular season.

Do the Packers even have any money? They’re constantly begging their fans to buy a worthless piece of paper for $250.

rugdog100: that is a typical comment from a non packer fan. Yes the stock has ZERO worth but we do get power in votes and share holder meetings with tour of stadiam and go to some areas normal public don’t have access too. Its mostly about pride and say to people unlike you i own a pro sports team.

If I have to pay $250 for a piece of paper every other decade to keep a superbowl contending/winning team in my town, then I’m more than willing… it’s a lot better than watching a cheapskate owner hold your team hostage, ask bengal fans if they think our paper is “worthless”.

Beware of slow-footed white defensive ends with “high motors” Pack. This guy has the mobility of my dishwasher.

Packer Fans need to admit that the only reason TT & his staff are bringing in so many free agents now is because TT pretty much ‘fell asleep’ after winning SB 45. Even though the defense needed an infusion of talent last year, TT chose to draft mostly offensive players.

Now TT is scurrying to fill the holes before that SB window closes anymore. As good as 15-1 sounds, a defense ranked last in yards allowed is alarming & will eventually bite you. Hopefully, a few FAs & a great draft will fix the defense in 2012.

He isn’t really that good. Be another perfect candidate for the pathetic Packer defense.

of course you will give up tons of yards when you go up early on team and it comes 4th qt and the other team is down by 14 or 21 points.

fantastic move by T.T these type of players you don’t pay alot for and if they don’t work out they are cut simple.
