Love Schiano, but this was a bad move.
Have you even met the guy yet?

Considering that it's been well publicised that coaching staffs and players aren't allowed to have contact yet due to the reduced offseason as per the new CBA lets hope he hasn't talked to him about it.

Also while talking about Blount the comment was an obvious warning to all players about ball security...
"No one who touches the football will get touches if they don’t protect the football."
That comment isn't just Blount, that includes Freeman and his interceptions, Williams/Winslow and their fumbles.

Shiano is correct in calling out Blount, he forgot Mike Williams though, he loves to cough it up as well...
These guys did what ever they wanted last year and it got them no where- Schiano is bringing discipline and toughness which Morris lacked- obviously they gave up on him and Shiano won't have any of that. I haven't heard one player come to Morris' defense and I heard more than one acknowledged they needed to move on from him. We are headed in the right direction but this season will be rough. One year under this new staff we will have 10+ win seasons for the next 5 years

Blount had 3 lost fumbles last year and at least 1 (@Jacksonsville) was clearly not a fumble and another one didn't look like one to me. As for the passing game there is no telling what he could do based on playing in that middle school offense ran by Greg Olson. Alstott had a much bigger fumbling issue early in his career, keep that in mind. With that said I do hope we get Richardson - he is a very special back and in the modern NFL you need 2 good backs, so having 2 great backs can only help.

I don't see where he broke some unspoken rule about addressing Blount's fumbleitis, as it's clear to anyone who has watched the Bucs during his time there. Great runner, and I think it will clear itself up with the boost to the O-line we got in the offseason. Please draft Claiborne though, as that is the glaring need we need to address, imho. Judging by some of the comments, you'd think that he insulted his mother or something.

You guys saying it’s a bad move…did you ever actually play football?

You don’t dance around egos if you’re a strong, effective coach. Ask Terry Glenn about Bill Parcells.
------------------------------------------------------------
Sure did, still think it's a bad move. Parcells is one thing, a rookie coach is another. After swinging and missing on what 4 coaches, we will see how well Schiana does down there. He has 'Singletary' written all over him except Singletary had enough respect to have the locker room's attention for 2 years. Like I said, we will see about Shiana, doubt he gets 2 years of auto-respect though...

Hey Slow Joe,

The word is gravitas. Parcells can address Glenn in that manner because he has earned it, he has won at this level. He had the respect of his players and the gravitas to do it. Schiano is a college coach from a mediocre program. Nobody is saying he cant be tough, its just asinine to start your tenure by calling out your players. A new coach should give every player a clean slate.

This is the risk of having players that don't like giving up on plays and fight for every yard.

Your either a highlight (break tackles, get extra yards) or a blooper (have a turnover).

It what made Bret Favre so good (and at times so bad).

Call me crazy i guess, but Blount was very impressive two years ago, had no off-season training due to the lockout, and had a coach and staff last year that he grew to hate.

I think Blount could still do marvelous things for the Bucs, especially given the holes that offensive line should start opening up this year for whoever gets the call.

Blount and Freeman both suffered from having the most anemic defense in the league. When you play from behind it's easy to push too hard and start making mistakes.
