Vikings G.M. wouldn’t shy away from member of 2009 Saints defense

The Vikings organization hasn’t said all that much about the bounty that the Saints put on Brett Favre in the 2009 NFC title game. (A couple of the players have had some strong opinions.)

On Thursday, Vikings G.M. Rick Spielman joined PFT Live to discuss a variety of topics, including the bounty situation.

Among other things, Spielman addressed whether the bounty affected the outcome of the game (he thinks it didn’t) and whether he’d sign a member of the 2009 Saints defense, now that it’s proven that there was a bounty on Favre (he said he would).

There’s plenty more in this three-minute clip that focused on the bounty saga, from the Vikings’ perspective.

The Vikings already signed and cut one of the players participating in the bounty program. Quite pathetic if you ask me, and quite disappointing Spielman wouldn’t shut the door on that after last year’s disappointment.

Of course he would. Why not… he’s already running the franchise into the ground.

But it’s the only thing their fans are talking about! Some of them actually think that they deserve the draft picks the Saints lost in compensation!

OH MY GOD! How dare Rick Spielman say such outrageous things?

When will Vikings fans stop whining about 2009 for the love of God? Field a team that can win in the playoffs and stop ya WHINING!!!

Vikings haters worry about your own teams. May they not drop a deuce and choke in the playoffs again. Chumps

Hey jason, there are 8 posts on this blog and not ONE of them is a Vikings fan “whining” about 2009. Seems like your the only one here who cant get over it! SMH~

Win the super bowl and not repeat the following year and all of the sudden you’re chokers? Gimme a break. Vikings are either trying to turn into the Pack and build through the draft or they’re trying to be so bad that they’ll have to move like the Indians in Major League. I’m leaning towards the second one.

  15. pmars64 says: Mar 29, 2012 6:40 PM

I have no doubt whatsoever that if the Vikings had done to the Saints what the Saints did to them in 2009 a went on to win the Super Bowl, Viking fans would have no problem with it. It’s football. Defenses are supposed to go after the opposing QB in any way they can. If they aren’t, they’re not doing their job.

As it was, the Saints never launched with their heads or hit Favre or any other player in the head in that game. I’ve seen worse in many other games.

It’s still sour grapes in the end, nothing more. It’s hypocritical to complain about the Saints when every other team at some point tries to hurt the other. It’s why WRs don’t like to run routes over the middle of the field. It’s why the LT is the second most important position on the team after the QB. Next time a player on your favorite team launches or intentionally tries to hurt (and they will – just go back and watch every game last year and tell me your team didn’t try to hurt somebody), will you stop being a fan of your team?

    Ever heard of Remi Ayodele?????

    @ pmars64

Again…what Viking fans have complained on this post? You’ve really lost your credibility when you go out of your way to rip Vikes fans here for no particular reason…

Really? This was an article about Spielman saying he’d have no problem adding a Saint to the Vikes.

Show me all the comments from Vikings fans whining.

    Go ahead, I’ll wait.

That’s what I thought…better get back to your homework, it’s a school night.

It amazing to me how much in denial Saints fan are in. You guys do realize that you are being punished. Because the Saints organization lied about the bounties right? And not only did they lie about it. They were also stupid enough to leave a paper trail.

How pathetic was it that the Vikings had to resort to bringing in the QB of their most hated rival in order to make the playoffs. Must have had to swallow a lot of pride but I guess that fan base is used to swallowing.
