Jason Peters injury may have led Eagles to sign King Dunlap

Shortly after Philadelphia signed offensive tackle King Dunlap, a report emerged that hinted at one reason the Eagles felt the need to keep Dunlap in the fold.

Geoff Mosher of the News Journal wrote on Twitter that an injury to starting left tackle Jason Peters may have contributed to the decision to sign Dunlap.

“I’m hearing that one BIG reason that the Eagles re-signed King Dunlap today is that Jason Peters may have an injury. Working to confirm,” Mosher wrote. “I’m hearing its an Achilles injury. But again, working to confirm from more sources, so hang with me. League source tells me Eagles had no dialogue with King as of last week re: contract and suddenly ‘a lot of dialogue’ this week. Dunlap can make up to $2.2M this year, per source, which is ‘above market’ for backup OT. Source said he heard Peters might have an injury. Also told by a different source that Peters sustained the injury during a workout.”

An injury to Peters would be a heavy blow to the Eagles’ offensive line.

Well, I’m skeptical. It would have to be a pretty serious injury, to be worried this much about it in March. And this would be the logical time to sign a guy like Dunlap, who is an adequate backup but not good starting caliber.

I’m not sure if the worst news in this artice is that peters is hurt or that they signed king dunlap to replace him.

Oh Lord, Andy must be thrilled at the possibility of drafting a tackle in the 1st now.

How many starting left tackles can say they were undrafted AND blocked a punt for a TD? Peters can.

The first excuse to be used in why the eagles did not win the super bowl in 2013. love it.

I watch Peters while he was in Buffalo and he did have injury problems back then. Just watch how long it takes him to return to playing form.

No one said that Peters is hurt, yet. And yes, it is March.

I was really thinking Eagles would go DT in the 1st round of the draft, but if this is true I wouldn’t be surprised if they pick up a OT.

Well, I feel bad for Jason Peters. However, this is going to screw the Steelers out of 1 O-line slot and push em down. Darn it!!!!!!!!
