Report: Jason Peters suffers Achilles injury, may need surgery

Eagles left tackle Jason Peters has suffered an Achilles tendon injury that may require surgery.

We noted this morning that Geoff Mosher of the News Journal had reported that an injury to Peters may have contributed to the Eagles’ decision to re-sign offensive tackle King Dunlap, and now Mosher has fleshed out his reporting with details that are not good for the Eagles.

Peters injured his Achilles recently during a workout and may need surgery, one source told Mosher. Another source told Mosher he had heard about the injury but doesn’t know how severe it is.

We’re already hearing from Eagles fans who are assuming the worst — a ruptured Achilles tendon, which would likely force him to miss the entire 2012 season — but that speculation is premature. All we know now is that Peters suffered some kind of injury. The fact that they moved quickly to get Dunlap back in the fold this week suggests, however, that the Eagles are worried Peters’ injury could be severe.

A five-time Pro Bowler, the 30-year-old Peters is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if this team is cursed….. I mean, they were quiet this year, locked up their players, brought in a leader in D, and with a decent draft they could be a contender (Giants were 9-7 last year, so any team with a solid QB and a good D that stays healthy and peaks at the right time has a shot)….This sucks and we haven’t even hit the draft yet, he was a beast last year

looks like the Eagles will probably target offensive linemen early in draft.

Didn’t the Eagles draft a 40 year old O-lineman last year? I’m sure he can step right in and not miss a beat.

Best offensive lineman in the NFL? Ha!

He was nicknamed ‘the revolving door’ in Buffalo for a reason.

to the idiot skins fan who keeps saying whos gunna hold orakpo and kerrigan now… first off the deadskins cant win regardless how good your d is… and you lost both of your starting safties just saying.

but i would respect if u said whos gunna stop orakpo… he is a beast and plays the left tackle… but kerrigan is on the right side of the line and got manhandled by herremens
