Report: Koa Misi arrested for battery charges

Detroit Lions v Miami Dolphins Getty Images

Linebacker Koa Misi has applied plenty of hits during his first two NFL seasons.  But one hit that he allegedly made away from the football field could impact his third NFL season.

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that Misi has been arrested on battery charges in Florida.

Per Volin, the arrest arises from an alleged incident in California.  He was arrested without incident in Florida.

    ..another worthless Ireland pick.

Zero skill and zero character. A mirror image of Ireland himself.

Another Jeff Ireland waste of a draft pick. Should have shipped him to the Bears with Marshall for a gatorade or something of equal value.

While this arrest is disturbing and Misi is by no means the next Patrick Willis (talent wise), I’m not sure where all the hate for Ireland picking this guy is coming from, but it certainly not coming from people who watch the games.

  10. specialteamsposter says: Mar 30, 2012 1:39 PM

As a Lions’ fan I have always been interested in Kao Misi. He was as the “super secret sure-fire prospect” Gunther Cunningham talked about before the draft and was hoping would fall to the mid-rounds. Miami snatched him up first but I have always been curious about how he has been playing and if Gunther knew what he was talking about.

  11. jtowndolfan says: Mar 30, 2012 1:48 PM

@stevemo im sure all the hate is coming from ireland being a first class Ahole and completely ruining this team….. ive been watching and all i see is us getting worse and worse year by year…and we wont get any better til that moron placekicker ireland is gone and possible not until ross sells the team. but in reality ireland is the issue, not ross.

Follow me here. The Brandon Marshall trade is going to haunt us for years.

Our 2010 2d round pick was traded to Denver for B Marshall.

So in order to recoup a 2nd rounder than year, we trade down from 13 (passing on Dez, whom we could have drafted instead of trading two 2s for BM, btw) all the way to 28 and only get the eighth pick in 2nd round in return (should have insisted on a 2011 1st rounder, but anyway…)

We pick Jared Odrick at 28 and with the new 2nd round pick take Koa Misi (Rob Gronkowski picked 2 spots later). Other 2nd round LBs available were Shaun Lee, Jason Worilds,Pat Angerer, Daryl Washington, and Brandon Spikes; all of whom have been more productive than Misi.

This season we trade BM for two 3rds and Misi gets arrested.

So going into 2012, instead of having Dez Bryant, and whatever LB would have been available with the 13th pick in the 2nd, we have no star WR, Jared Odrick (eh), and an OLB sitting in jail.

And the BM trade also “forced” us to trade into the 2nd round in 2011. Gave up a 3rd, 5th, and 7th to get Daniel Thomas who has done nothing so far. The 3rd we gave up btw was used by Wash to draft Leonard Hankerson.

This team has not come out on the winning side of ONE transaction they’ve made since like 1972. And as we know, 1972 was a long time ago.

  18. millertime30 says: Mar 30, 2012 2:02 PM

@stevemo i think i can explain to you where the hate for Jeff Ireland comes from.

The man is the GM of a team in the most popular league in America.

His team is located in Miami, which is one of the most popular destinations for free agents in any sport (just ask LeBron) due to nice weather, gorgeous women, and a 0% state income tax.

But even with all of this working in his favor, top end free agents avoid him like the plague because his own moral system is so out of whack. he refuses to treat players like men.

No, the vikequeefs are already working on a trade.

  22. xpensivewinos says: Mar 30, 2012 2:20 PM

Misi has not come close to playing like a second round talent. Apparently, being a good guy is his only real talent. Oh wait….

Who are all of these apologists for Ireland? The team’s overall talent is below average. Three straight losing seasons and they’re buried in their division. Enough already with the “Parcells was making the decisions” excuses. Before he was GM (which he supposedly was when Dallas let him go), he was still Miami’s #1 talent evaluator. The team stinks…………..and oh by the way, what has Dallas won with anyone he scouted there. I don’t recall them putting up a fight to keep him. And you know, he’s so respected around the league and all….

We don’t even need to get in to the damage Ireland has caused the Dolphins reputation by the way he conducts himself as a “leader.”

Anyone who thinks Ireland is fit to be the GM of anything is an idiot with a mind-numbingly low level of expectation.

Ireland is the moron in a fantasy league a buddy or yours asks you to join. You know the guy is an idiot, but he’s good to have around to make fun of and you know you can always rip him off in a trade. “Hey Jeff, what do you want for Brandon Marshall????”

Another Ireland bust. Can’t blame this one on Parcells, wouldn’t put it past Ireland to blame Sporano though.

  26. getsome99 says: Mar 30, 2012 2:55 PM

    jtowndolfan:

Can you please be more specific about which “Dolphins’ team Ireland is ruining? Is it the 1-15 team that he inherited who also happened to draft Ted Ginn in the 1st Round. Or is the Dolphins team that was once owned by Wayne Huizenga who asked the media for sugestions on how to get the team back on track.

If it’s those teams that you’re referring to, than the state of Miami Dolphins football is much worse than we thought. Let me remind my fellow Finatics out there that even Dan Marino never delivered a Super Bowl win. All of this backlash against Ireland is another sign of fan entitlement and beleiving your team is better than they really are.

Ireland already has one division title in 4 years and he’s still building the team. Have you noticed how many ealry round draft picks the Patriots have cust in the past couple years? You’re not expected to hit a homerun with every decision. For every draft bust (and there’s not that many beyond Pat White), he’s found solid players to make up for it. Bess, Wake, Moore, Bush, to name a few.

I am certain that most of these so called Dolpins fans who complain about the GM aren’t watching the games. If you were, you would see that this team is pretty good and not far from being a contender.

Why don’t we wait and see what this is about before we rush to judgement. This is the first time we’ve heard anything like this from this guy, unlike Brandon Marshall, who has a list of incidents a mile long.

Real football people know what a brilliant job Ireland did in getting (2) 3rd round picks for BM. The guy is a flat out turd and will be suspended big time. Plus, he doesn’t exactly fit Philbin’s system.

  27. babyhorsemorgan says: Mar 30, 2012 3:16 PM

The “battery charges” arose after Koa plugged his electric powered Kia into his neighbor’s outside outlet every night.

  28. 1972wasalongtimeago says: Mar 30, 2012 3:22 PM

    Thanks xpensivewinos

But it goes back further than Ireland. Waaaay further.

  29. getsome99 says: Mar 30, 2012 3:26 PM

Where are all these Brandon Marshall lovers coming from? Let’s see how this works out for the Bears when he’s suspended for half the season.

Bi-polar, stabbed by his wife, got a teammate killed, etc, etc, etc. And we got (2) 3rd round picks for this idiot! He was going to get cut, but Ireland got (2) 3rds for this guy. If you undervalue 3rd round picks, you don’t understand football. Look at the top receivers in the league and see where they were drafted. I believe Marshall himself was a 4th rounder.

How many playoff games has Marhsall played in? He hasn’t made an impact for any team he’s played for. Just like TO. They may help your fantasy team, but they will kill your NFL team.

You are correct. The Brandon Marhsall trade will be remembered for years to come in, but it will be in favor if Ireland.

As for Dez Bryant, what has he done for the Cowboys so far? How many playoff games? And he was drafted in the 1st round by a team that was supposed to be Super Bowl ready. Another problem child. Anybody else see him disappear in the 2nd half of the Jet’s game last year because he was out of shape. Even Deion Sanders cut him off. That alone should tell you something.

    Koa Misi
2 sacks in the past 22 games
ZERO forced fumbles in 28 games
    ZERO interceptions in 28 games
    Averages 2 tackles a game

I didn’t think it was possible to
get less of a playmaker than Channing Crowder
    but Ireland proved me wrong.

Good to see Ireland in year 5 in a three year rebuild plan…

I’m not complaining about the trade to get rid of BM. I’m complaining about the trade to GET Marshall.

The latest in a long, long, long line of buying high and selling low. Not just Ireland. It goes back to the 70s.

Imagine the new politically correct Bounty Free NFL. Misi is an Ireland bust and I am one of the few Positive Fins Fans saying this.
