While in Florida, Jets coach Rex Ryan said that his fraternal twin brother, Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, will undergo the same lap-band procedure that Rex had two years ago.
Per Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that Rob Ryan is engaged in preparations for the procedure, and that Rob Ryan is working every day.
Rob Ryan has been regarded as a potential head-coaching candidate, but there’s a belief in league circles that most owners will shy away from candidates who are overweight.
In Rob Ryan’s case, it may not be what goes in his mouth but what comes out of it that is holding him back. Rex was quiet in the years preceding his ascension of the Jets’ head-coaching job. Some would say Rob already is nearly as brash as his brother; if/when Rob is a head coach, there’s a chance he’ll be even more boisterous than Rex.
