As for his scrambling, they aren't expecting him to run for game winning yards. THe Skins want RG because his overall play style fits in with the Skins style of offense.

The Skins are hoping that his ability to run will force other teams to risk giving him the short run, or keeping a defender short, taking pressure off the receivers.
We already know where everybody is going. No story.

RGIII was right to pass on a workout with the colts for several reasons, but as has also been said, it was already a given for him on getting drafted, so he had no need to really do private workouts, but in his own words, declaring that he would only be doing pro day would hopefully cause more teams to show up, thus getting some face time for some of his teammates who hadn't had as much publicity.

So this thread’s over. RGIII refuses to a private workout with the Colts. He’s decided where he’s going.

Matt did you try to compare Baylor academics to Stanford . WOW i cant take you seriously now . RG3 red shirted so it was 4 years . Scrambling QB’s win games not super bowls . The valid iron clad proof is there .

This is just ignorance of facts. RG3 graduated in Dec. 2010. He has since been in a Masters program for communications and will earn his masters before this summer and heading off to whoever selects him.

Also, if he was a true scrambling QB, he would have ended up with more than 600+ yds rushing this past year. Truth is, the guy wants to throw first.

First of all, this indeed is pretty good, if not made up; drama. This is fun and immediately shows how bias influences evaluation of talent.

For instance, RGIII is really good in the pocket. He may be better than Luck in the pocket, but because he's such a fast runner, people would think differently.

Conversely, Luck is fantastic in creating space on the move. And he's pretty fast and a good scrambler. But he's a Peyton Manning clone, so you really wouldn't think he's that fast and nimble on his feet.

My thinking is this: I think that whoever the Colts pick will be the loser. The Colts' cupboards will be bare. But the Colts play indoors and I think that RGIII would play better indoors.

Plus hiring RGIII does a couple of things that may give the Colts time to build a team around him. Having speed at quarterback can mask glaring deficiencies on your line, as well as upgrade your running game. That makes your safeties come up and play honest, leaving a chance for a big play downfield.

So you can hire RGIII, make sure his blind side is protected, get a big body on the outside and your offense is done for the season. You can concentrate on your defense and slowly pick up upgrades while going to the playoffs in two years. (See the Carolina Panthers-2011 or the Atlanta Falcons 2001)

If you hire Luck, you will have to do all of that; plus hire a speedy WR and a running back. That also means that your OTs must be stout. That's more money needed for investment now or you will suck until you cover those areas. (See the Bengals or Browns.)

I'm telling you: One of these days you're going to see a white guy coming out of the draft with the speed and arm of these new age QBs and we will think of the days of slow guys with rocket arms nostalgically. See every time the US populace embraces change in culture, there has to be an Elvis.

"scrambling QB’s dont work in the NFL "

Cam Newton was more of a running QB than RG3 in college. How did he do in the NFL?

Ever heard of Steve Young?Ran for 43 tds.

"Take the smart QB before the athletic one .."

Griffin graduated in three years with a degree in political science and a 3.67 GPA

This is just too easy.

Akili Smith couldn't pass his SAT and decided to play baseball for a few years, out of high school. He failed and went to Jr. College..finally got to Oregon and started getting failing grades and in trouble with the law.
When he got to the NFL.he didn't understand the playbook. Then he wouldn't talk to reporters and got arrested for driving drunk.

all the comparing RG3 to Vick has to stop. Its such an uneducated and racist reply, If you ever seen RG3 play he is indeed a pocket passer, he does have Vick ability but unlike Vick he would rather work from the pocket. If i had to compare him to someone in the league it would be Aaron Rodgers.

As for the Griffen vs Luck arguement i wont be a fake anaylst and say your an idiot if you feel one is better than the other. If i had to choose I would much rather see the Eagles play Luck than Griffen. With that said only time will tell with these two,I dont think the Colts can go wrong with this pick. Luck and Griffen both have bright futures in the league.

reading these comments I believe you guys though Leaf would be good well he is has been arrested 2 times in 4 days.RG3 is a bust sorry skins fans I didn't know you were that stupid.RG3 body 6-2 220lbs is small for a QB and only Joe Montana and Aaron Rodgers had success and trust me lots of Quarterbacks have been small and really none did anything.RG3 panics when pressure comes to him and forces something.Another thing he is awful at reading defenses and the NFL will not let you get a way with that.He also runs more than throws and his small body will get him hurt and out of the NFL in a few years. When you have Kendall Wright catching 180 passes last year for 16 touchdowns and 1500 yards that what I call a Dunte Culpepper Randy Moss secnario. And most of his schedule was unranked college teams that have 5th and 6th round projects defending WR it is easy to score and he was a 1 year starter like Vince Young,Jamarcus Russell,Jason Campbell, and Mark Sanchez ring a bell the chances of him doing something is very low and someone will bet on his potenial and lose and set there franchise back which is the Redskins and will set it back further with the trade and the Redskins are screwed incase the colts are so stupid they take RG3 and Luck goes with the Redskins. Now Luck I wouldn't say that he is a "once in a lifetime Quarterback"but does not have any down sides and he will at least be above-average

RGIII is an incredible athlete who can throw. He is a bigger, smarter and more accurate Michael Vick. That being said, Andrew Luck is bigger and smarter than Griffin.
Why is Griffin going to be more any more successful than Leaf? It is so funny that everyone keeps talking about Luck and RGIII like they are both going to be stars because the guys on ESPN and NFL network say they both are. They said that about Leaf too. Leaf had a pissy attitude, but his downfall was he couldn't make the reads. We still don't know if RGIII can because he hasn't had to.

So until I see otherwise, RG III is Ryan Leaf with a tan. Or RG Leaf.

RG III comes from a read option, single read, spread offense. Do you know how many QBs come out of similar offenses every year that put up great numbers? So for the life of me, I can't figure out why people are saying "Yeah, but he is different". If nothing else, the fact that he is 6'2" makes him on the smaller side for current NFL QBs. And he also had very good WRs that would simply run behind the DBs.

He is being projected to be good taking the ball from center and making 2-3 reads. Based on what???

To me, he is a faster Akili Smith. I think he will be a terrible bust.
