Most of the big names are off the market, but there are still free agents looking for work and teams looking to enhance their roster.
That brings us to the Dolphins and linebacker Rocky McIntosh. Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports, via McIntosh’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, that McIntosh visited with the Dolphins on Sunday. It’s a return to familiar ground for McIntosh, who played his college ball at the University of Miami.
McIntosh could be seen as competition for Koa Misi at inside linebacker. The fallout from Misi’s arrest on battery charges, if there is any, isn’t yet known and could conceivably impact his availability. If nothing else, McIntosh would provide veteran depth for the Dolphins linebacking corps.
McIntosh lost his starting job to Perry Riley halfway through the 2011 season after spending the previous four years as a mainstay in the Washington starting lineup. There hasn’t been much other interest in McIntosh around the league, which probably means he isn’t going to wind up in any situation that gives him more than a chance at earning playing time in 2012.
