Whining about Griffin’s “big mouth” is getting kind of old. I sincerely hope everyone understands that he does not hold his own press conferences and make these pronouncements.

Everything he says is in the context of Griffin being interviewed by some variety of sports journalist looking for a story. Would you rather he refused to talk to reporters. Then they would certainly have a story: “Baylor quarterback Griffin creepy and reclusive. Experts question his leadership ability.”

And for those who are offended by him discussing, or as randomguy puts it “raving”, whether he’s worthy of being the first pick, what do you want him to say? “No, I’m a dramatically inferior prospect to Andrew Luck. I truly don’t deserve any consideration from Indianapolis and will be forfeiting my Heisman trophy to Luck as soon as possible.”

Given the questions he’s asked and the position he’s in, it’s silly to think that Griffin has given anything but the most reasonable and PR friendly responses he could over the past few months. To say he’s done anything other than exactly what’s expected of him is inaccurate and unfair.
