Demetrius Bell says his visits are over

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that free-agent tackle Demetrius Bell will visit the Packers this week.

That was news to Demetrius Bell.

Said Bell this morning on Twitter:  “I’m done visiting.  Where is this coming from?

Bell recently visited the Steelers and the Eagles.  Philly has the greatest need, given the recent ruptured Achilles’ tendon suffered by left tackle Jason Peters.

It doesn’t mean the Packers are out of the running.  It only means that, according to Bell, he won’t be heading to Wisconsin in the immediate future.

May mean that Philly is the destination!

Can’t blame him for not wanting to go there. I was in Milwaukee, which isn’t even as far north as Green Bay, last May and it felt as it it were still February or March. No thanks.

Then again, he was in Buffalo previously.

Bell’s an injury prone player who’s finding out his worth is not what he thought………

    mmmpierogi-

While I’m 3 hours west of Green Bay, usually the weather blows this time of year, but this spring has been awesome, like in the high 60s-high 70s. I would think his reasons for not coming here would be more than just weather, he did play in Buffalo.

Eagles five year deal. Front loaded so they can trade him next year when peters comes back??

Maybe he realized that he’s not worth as much as he thought…
Buddy Nix’s deal is looking real good right now.
Or is he just too afraid Chris Hairiston will beat him out for the starting job?

Eagles signed Bell this morning. You’ll see it soon. Hope the dude can stay healthy enough for the one season we need him.

Don’t know Demetrius Bell’s background, but speaking as a Sconny native and from a domestic point of view……for sure, let’s not kid ourselves, Green Bay is not for everyone. If a free agent is still young and single, then, yes, Green Bay would likely not be their first choice in destination. But if they’re married (“settled down”) and/or at least grew up in a small town/rural environment, then a midwestern “small town” like Green Bay can be an appealing destination. Sure, the weather gets ugly in winter months, but that is no less true for many other NFL teams (i.e., Minnesota, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, New England, etc.). It is no less beautiful in the spring/summer/fall months, if not moreso given less smog, more trees/lakes, etc. I mean, it’s not merely coincidence that practically half of suburban Chicagoans vacate Chicago for Door County, WI (the county next door to Green Bay) in the summer months, as well as having lake cottages in much of northern Wisconsin.

Oh yeah your right. Of all things, a player’s main focus when it comes to choosing his next destination is what the weather is like there.

If anything, the reason he chose Philly is probably because he gets to be starter. Had he signed with Green Bay, he would of most likely battled for a starting job.

The Packers didn’t want that loser anyway.

I don’t blame Bell I wouldn’t want to go to that coldazz place either. I don’t think they know what summer weather is like, cold year round.
