APLuis Castillo is staying in San Diego after all.
Castillo, who was cut by the Chargers a month ago, re-signed with the team today.
Although Castillo visited both the Chiefs and the Patriots, he knows the defense and the coaching staff with the Chargers, and that made San Diego a good fit for him. Presumably he’s agreed to a reduction from the $3.9 million base salary and $1 million roster bonus he was due on his previous contract.
Castillo has played his entire career with the Chargers, who took him in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft. Last year he played in just one game, breaking his leg in the opener.

I didn’t know el cabron was still in the league.
Wasnt this guy caught for juicing coming out of college?
I like this move! It give the dline depth and leaves the two only potential first round picks to be OLB (upshaw/perry) or Safety (baron). Great move A.J.!
i am glad to have him back. he isn’t the best, but when healthy he is good at containing the run. hopefully he can stay healthy this year
and yes he did get caught juicing in college
The ‘AJ Smith is on the hot seat free agent extravaganza’ continues!
Joking aside, glad this happened. Looking forward to the draft.
Probably going to be a short leash for this guy. If SD drafts any big, promising DL guys then Castillo just might be looking for a new team again after final roster cuts.
Wuda looked good in NE
Hope they stocked up on the HGH.
Didn’t this guy also play second base for the Mets?
