“I heard the whole tape. I also think “kill the head” was more of a metaphor than anything else, of a piece “attack their will” and “men aren’t equals unless they have equal confidence.”

And what was “Take out Crabtree’s ACL” a metaphor for? And “Take out Vernon Davis’ ankles?”

Pathetic attempt at spinning, Mikey.

--------

I agree that the ACL comment was beyond the pale.

But I also think that "kill the head, and the body will die" was likely a metaphor run wild. He was known to use that expression for years.

For the record, I'm a Browns fan, not a Saints fan. I could care less about them from a hometown standpoint.

This is amazing to me..

ALL of you enjoy the big hits... ALL OF YOU!
and yet when you see how these big hits come to be you all act like its disgusting. RETARDS!

Do you all think GW is the only guy doing this?
Id bet all of the league did this..

I find it worse that GW took all the blame and the major amount of punishment for this. The head coach is the man in charge.. HE knew what was going on and for all we know told GW to do it..

Football is a battle...
Its a War...

Its not a sport for the tame... You all ask theses cats to win.. Then you get upset when you see how that cake is baked.. If you want to start looking at hits.. Start with one's like the Carson Palmer play off hit.. I havent seen the first replay of any Saint player go for the knee's like the CP play..

Wow. Amazing how the “right to do wrong” code is only exceeded by the man code not to rat someone out.

Equally confounding is the level of ignorance of fans. This is the same BS Code of Honor that was dished out when the Penn State mess blew up last year and people lost their minds over Joe Paterno losing his job.

Joe Pa knew and he covered up. Rightfully so, his life and his career will end with a big freaking asterisk it deserves. It's bleeping sport! It has no nutritional value of any type and the Vince Lombardi trophy is just a prop.

Here you all are defending the MOSTLY illiterate millionaires....and this soon to be millionaire, Claiborne with his his Wonderlic score of 4 (God, I wonder what color crayon he used for the test?)

Just stop it everyone. Would you feel the same if your son was targeted following a concussion….where he was reduced to a vegetative state later in life by intellectual midgets that have been harvested to be legalized hit men?

At the end of the day, everyone needs to be banned for life. I say lets get to the players who did Williams bidding. I will pick my nose with utter glee when Jonathan Vilma is banned for life!

If this was a documentary about Steve Gleason then wtf was Pampy and Gleason doing in a 2011 playoff pre-game meeting? No offense to Gleason but he wasn't on that unit and he nor his paparazzi dude should've been in attendance. Furthermore, Williams sounds like Buddy Ryan who basically revolutionized the Defensive system and is the architect of many systems utilized today. Ryan was his mentor and is a representative of the old school smash mouth football we've all came to know and love. If
there are anye hell does Goddell want? Pretty soon the players are going to implementing the two hand touch or using the patty cake technique FOH!!

Wow, people like to kill the messenger. All this guy did was release was let us know what Gregg Williams was actually saying. I don't know about you, but I'm glad he did cause I never thought Williams would say things to the extent he did. As for the money grab stuff, is there any proof of this? I'm seeing it mentioned quite a bit, but with no proof other than him doing a documentary that happened to have this footage. How do we expect to ever get the truth in these stories if we hate on the people that provide it, and defend the liars? I'm glad he did it, and I hope Williams and Payton get banned for life. Payton had to know this stuff was being said so he's just as much to blame in my opinion(although I do like him, and it would be sad to see him gone from the game). All the people hating on the whistleblower are basically saying that their fine that Williams issued orders to attack ACL's and ankles, and possibly head shots depending on if he was talking literally or not......there's no place for it in the game, and if it wasn't for this guy we wouldn't realize what a piece of crap Williams really is. Don't kill the messenger people.....unless you just want lies

I love a got physical violent legal hit...but we do have on both sides of the ball targets that each team would like to take out the game...see Greg you messed up when you started naming names, and pointing out what areas to hit...should've just said lets go out and kick some arse...and the rest will take care of itself...

Would you feel the same if your son was targeted following a concussion….where he was reduced to a vegetative state later in life ?

Were my son a grown rational man who knowingly chose to play professional football, having played the game myself, I would know going in that he would be targeted like this. And I would respect his decision.

The naivete as to what the game is really like is what's crazy.

This is how the game is played. This is how locker rooms sound. The players say much worse things to each other. Almost all of them.

The kids attracted to this game at a young age are cut from a certain cloth. The men who play it as adults are elite athletes cut from that cloth.

If you're not cut from the cloth, that's totally fine. But these men are, and they contracted for this.

The paternalism and moralizing (looking at you Florio) is what's most disturbing to me in all of this. I'm being honest.

It’s kind of ironic after than rant it was the Niners that knocked out Pierre Thomas on the goal line with a helmet to helmet hit.

Gregg Williams is more likely going to be selling insurance than coaching football ever again.

There is NOTHING wrong with selling insurance.

It physically pains me that Steve Gleason's name is being brought into this mess. I was fortunate enough to get to meet him once, and I can honestly say that he is the most positive, kindest, all around nicest person I have ever met. There is no one on earth that gets more joy out of life than him. He is a true saint, and a real Saint, and he is the kind of person I wish people associated with my favorite team; not this irresponsible lunatic Gregg Williams.
I just wish people would remember that not all Saints players are evil, just like not all Saints fans are idiots.
I guess I try to make myself feel better by thinking about the millions of dollars and service hours this team and these players have given to the city, and less about the thousands they put into some maniac's bounty fund.

the Saints fans are really funny on here getting all spicy about Pamphilon ...

it's very unlikely Pamphilon will make much or anything from this, and he's done with the NFL now so those profiteering type arguments don't hold water guys.....

also, those thinking he's going to get sued are way off base, he was released from any confidentiality agreement when he became party to Williams' conspiracy.

the timing might be an issue, but maybe he saw the appeal coming up and was concerned Williams et al might get a little undeserved mercy?

in any event, thanks Pamphilon for making it entirely clear what the Saints were doing.

and Saints fans? eat it.

I have no problem with a coach telling his players to go out and hit hard. The problem lies with the same coach saying go for a players ACL. You by saying that are jeopardizing the players career and thus his lively hood. Williams should receive a permanent ban from the NFL. St. Louis needs to cut its ties to Williams and send him on his way!!!

Sean Pamphilon brings up a great point about they players complicity in this. If you are a player whose livelihood depends on whether the D-Coord will start you or not, there is little room for argument when you are ordered to do something. That is why the players shouldn't be punished nearly as severe as the coaches.

I love all these self righteous, pompous windbags standing on their soapbaoxes acting as if this and worse isn't said in locker rooms across the country from high school up. Puhlease. All this fake vitriol must stem from a whipping the Saints put on their team at some point since the arrival of Payton and Brees. Williams used an overly aggressive, boneheaded stance in attempting to get his players fired up, especially in today's NFL, but I am sure you can ask any Eagles players from the Reggie White(RIP) days if Buddy Ryan didn't say 100x worse to get them fired up. Or hell name your d-coordinator. This is not to excuse the lying and covering up, for which the team should have been punished, but all of a sudden all the haters have on a skirt and their estrogen levels have risen. Give me a break. Take the head coach, GM, assistant coach, players, head popcorn vender, draft picks, money, beignets, gumbo, etouffe, and everything else you want away from New Orleans, when the season starts, we are still gonna stomp on more teams than stomp on us and play a home game for the Superbowl. Be jealous.
