I raise all my children as Atheists. We are a very happy and loving family without a god.

@xpensivewinos: umm, did you just actually mention Tim Tebow and John Lennon in the same sentence together? This should be obvious but John Lennon's message challenged the establishment while Tim Tebow's embraces the establishment.

Those who don't belief come off as intolerant? Umm, religion dominates public life in the United States everywhere you look. So we don't already have enough loudmouth religious kooks in the capital of the Western world for religious kooks as it is? Speaking of tolerance, what do you think Christian America's reaction would be if an outspoken Muslim was on his knees praying to Mecca in the end zone, or an outspoken Atheist took to a nationally televised sporting event to get his point across. "Tolerance" is a one way street with Christians and always has been. The freedom to openly criticize religion is a right that did not always exist which is why it is our duty to call it out whenever possible.

I don't subscribe to Tebow's religious views or what I can surmise are his politics, but his work with the sick and the poor transcends religion. He's simply a remarkably kind human being and the world is in short supply of those. Anyone mocking his character or the help he provides others out of the kindness of his heart should seek serious psychiatric counseling. In this day and age, we need a couple of good guys.

I also respect that hell out of the way he has completely manipulated the media to help get his message out (whether I agree with it or not) in his awe shucks manner. He knows whatever he does, the media will be all over it and he knows he can't buy that kind of media distribution. He's taken a page right out of the John Lennon "How To Manipulate The Media To Get My Message Out There" Manifesto.

Quite brilliant for those willing to take the time to admire it....

"Frankly, I’m sick and tired of bible-beating Christians like this hick forcing us to witness his religiosity. Religion is a personal relationship one has with the God one believes in, not the basis for a public display of one’s spiritual beliefs.

Moreover, I’m tired of the press giving widespread attention to imbeciles whose ideas don’t merit it. After listening to Tebow’s NYC news conference in which he repeated that he was excited to play in New York, to be a Jet, to be working with Coach Ryan, etc. about 40 times in the span of several minutes, I concluded that if he actually graduated from the University of Florida, then shame on the University of Florida. Although he is amiable, he’s no smarter than most of the people who bag or stock groceries at the market."

On a regular basis Tebow ventures into foreign lands and builds water supplies, housing, and various infrastructure for the poor who have nothing.

The hell have you ever done with your life you miserable sob?

Tebowing is actually a very famous sculpture called the Thinker, but I can understand that being a foreign concept to Tebow fans

Don't mistake the American Jesus that Tebow followers worship with one who abides by scripture. After a weekend of celebrating the pegan spring rituals of rebirth, with little bunnies and eggs, on a day representing the rise of Jesus from his tomb; you expect these people to listen to scripture?
You can choose who you follow, God or faith or no faith. Choose to believe it or not.
No need to bash someone who is outspoken because the offend you with believing in something bigger than themselves. Perhaps your thin skin says more about your personality than you realize.
The cross is an offense. Congratulations for hating on Christians everywhere. It isn't the first time.
Tim Tebow seems very legitimate in his beliefs.
At least he has something to believe in, or is that why you hate him?
I do not think he will ever lead a team to the Super Bowl, but he can influence others around him, just as he does now. That is his goal.

I can't stand the urban legend of Tim Tebow and don't think there's any proof to back most of it up. Any kid who's had his entire life filmed and works as an underwear model probably isn't humble. Any player who expects his entire team to change everything they do to suit his skill set isn't a team-first guy. And as for the "winner" myth I don't see where he's outperformed his peers in the NFL or his successors at the University of Florida.

However, if you think he doesn't have the right to talk about his faith, I encourage you to do a little research. The phrase "Separation of Church and State" does not appear in the constitution and has nothing to do with a private citizen anyway. What IS protected in the constitution is an individual's right to freedom OF religion (not freedom FROM it), freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Based on that Tebow didn't do anything wrong yesterday.

Tebow's message was a little off center. Athletes are role models whether they like it or not. The real question whether they are good role models are less than good.

While Tebow prides himself on being a good role model, I find that questionable even though 15,000 people showed up to worship him, their idol, on Easter morning. I would hope parents, and our youth today, would look to a more substantive and humble model like Jesus with his incredible concern for the poor and powerless, and whose message was about unconditional love and compassion for all people everywhere.

I think a lot of people miss the point of what's wrong with this. It was an Easter Sermon. Tebow got more focus than Jesus by a lot of people. That's not right.

Teblow should know athletes are bad role models, he's the worst of the sorry lot. At least there weren't as many deadbeats at his rally as expected, that's the good news. Teblow is a farce of nature and all he cares about is being excited some fools are stupid enough to pay attention to him.

If he really wanted to show his faith he should dump professional football for a career preaching at the pulpit but we can see all he cares about is himself. Maybe he can show how to be more responsible at work by stopping this preaching nonsense and reading his playbook so he can run a pro style offense like every other quarterback in NFL history instead of the sissy option one.
