This should be obvious but John Lennon’s message challenged the establishment while Tim Tebow’s embraces the establishment.

I also respect that hell out of the way he has completely manipulated the media to help get his message out (whether I agree with it or not) in his awe shucks manner. He knows whatever he does, the media will be all over it and he knows he can’t buy that kind of media distribution. He’s taken a page right out of the John Lennon “How To Manipulate The Media To Get My Message Out There” Manifesto.

Quite brilliant for those willing to take the time to admire it….

Moreover, I’m tired of the press giving widespread attention to imbeciles whose ideas don’t merit it. After listening to Tebow’s NYC news conference in which he repeated that he was excited to play in New York, to be a Jet, to be working with Coach Ryan, etc. about 40 times in the span of several minutes, I concluded that if he actually graduated from the University of Florida, then shame on the University of Florida. Although he is amiable, he’s no smarter than most of the people who bag or stock groceries at the market.”

On a regular basis Tebow ventures into foreign lands and builds water supplies, housing, and various infrastructure for the poor who have nothing.

The hell have you ever done with your life you miserable sob?

At which point during proclaiming the good you have done for humanity, it becomes the good you have done for your ego? No one needs to tell you the good they have done, for it to be seen by god. The only reason to tell others of the good you do, is ego.

Don’t mistake the American Jesus that Tebow followers worship with one who abides by scripture. After a weekend of celebrating the pegan spring rituals of rebirth, with little bunnies and eggs, on a day representing the rise of Jesus from his tomb; you expect these people to listen to scripture? American Jesus is about capatalism and helps over privileged athletes win games, actors win awards and crook politicians win elections.

However, if you think he doesn’t have the right to talk about his faith, I encourage you to do a little research. The phrase “Separation of Church and State” does not appear in the constitution and has nothing to do with a private citizen anyway. What IS protected in the constitution is an individual’s right to freedom OF religion (not freedom FROM it), freedom of speech and the right to peaceably assemble. Based on that Tebow didn’t do anything wrong yesterday.

While Tebow prides himself on being a good role model, I find that questionable even though 15,000 people showed up to worship him, their idol, on Easter morning. I would hope parents, and our youth today, would look to a more substantive and humble model like Jesus with his incredible concern for the poor and powerless, and whose message was about unconditional love and compassion for all people everywhere.

If he really wanted to show his faith he should dump professional football for a career preaching at the pulpit but we can see all he cares about is himself. Maybe he can show how to be more responsible at work by stopping this preaching nonsense and reading his playbook so he can run a pro style offense like every other quarterback in NFL history instead of the sissy option one.
