The fact that they even tried an appeal is really asinine. C’mon the dude who played judge and jury to give you the penalties is now the appeal person. It’s like duh, do you think he’s going to undermine himself by changing his original decision???

It's like duh, jackass. They knew the appeals weren't going to be overturned. This was just a strategic move to buy a little extra time before the suspensions kicked in. The fact that you, along with others, still don't comprehend that fact, only further illustrates how clueless you are.

It's like duh? What are you, a 15 y.o. girl?

I don’t understand why he didn’t start the suspension immediately for Payton, since the original intention was for it to start 4/1/12.

I have written in several articles about theSaints when so many couldn't understand him appealing. This was strickly a legal manuver to buy a lil more time with the team to plan things out. None of em ever intended to have the suspensions reduced, they knew they were going to have to serve that time. It gave Payton 2 more weeks to set things in the plans for the up-coming season. They got exactly what was wanted - (a lil more time) Its like any other appeal system - it stalls the process a lil while- thats all they wanted. Whats so hard to understand about that?

But not too weird.

When did Parcells join the Packers?

Why don’t you ask Barry Bonds if that is all that matters? Respect of the fans is just as important, otherwise the accomplishment is meaningless.

Can't say I disagree with that. Not too many people talk about what dbs guys like Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb were, do they? Perception is massively skewed when adoration is involved.

I agree with most of you here, this may be one of the worst mocks this year I have read. Whoever this Evan guy is, you should not have a job, and I now know you never watch football or know how to evaluate talent..

Kuechly at 32 is the worst of this mock, he is a stud LB who is a guarantee in top 15

Brockers is close by you having him going top 5, he is raw and has upside, but he will not be picked that high in front of other DT

This is a waste of time and you should be fired..

If Goodell has too much power, he only has the powers defined by the owners. If the owners would like to have three branches, they can accomplish that with ease. The owners have a commissioner for a reason, and he is fulfilling that reason, presumably to the owners' satisfaction. Can anyone doubt the punishment Goodell handed down wasn't approved by some sort of executive council of owners, whose team would be held to the same standard? If Goodell put on boots too big for him, he'd get the drift real quick. The NFL isn't a democracy, and Goodell isn't elected. The owners have a commissioner for a reason, and he is fulfilling that reason, presumably to the owners’ satisfaction.
I am in favor and support the punishments handed out to the individuals involved.

I am not in favor of the loss of draft picks - that has the impact of extending this punishment long into the future. The major losers of this extended punishment will be the fans of Saints. If the commissioner feels that the team requires additional punishment it should be in the form of $$$. ($5 million ??)

It is unfortunate that the Saints fans have to share in this punishment through the loss of a season but let's not carry this punishment beyond this year.

Sorry but the proof is on the field, I don’t care how many people Greg brought up in his rant, the players still didn’t Target players and eliminate them from games.

Who says they didn't target other players??? Just because they weren't always successful doesn't mean they weren't trying, or that they shouldn't be punished.

It's in keeping with basic tenets of justice. If you try to murder someone and fail, you can still go to prison! What? Yes, it's totally true, it's called "ATTEMPTED murder", and it's considered pretty serious. A person who tries to commit any crime and botches it up is still guilty of a crime.
