Getty ImagesRobert Griffin III will likely be a great quarterback. He also may be a great businessman.
Griffin joined Twitter six days ago, already amassing 89,000-plus followers. And those followers soon will hear directly from Griffin regarding the virtues of Castrol motor oil.
Darren Rovell of CNBC reports that Griffin will promote Castrol via his Twitter page.
The effort also will include Griffin’s image in banner ads, along with a game in which users will attempt to make Griffin run really fast.
It’s a creative approach, but it definitely has risks. If too many ads show up in Griffin’s Twitter timeline, his fans may run really fast for the “unfollow” button.

- My trip to the draft…brought to you by Castro.
- This win against the Colts…brought to you by Castro.
- Man I’m up late burning that midnight oil…Castro that is.
- Whew, what a game. I feel like I’m running out of oil. I need some Castro.
Man get out of here, lol. This is where Twitter is going? Sponsors everywhere.
Sellout
sellout ? ok. Him and everyone else.
“Can’t a young man get money anymore ?”
Be careful young man. I said I loved Castro and look where it got me!
Ozzie Guillen
Gee… one more thing I’ll miss out on by not spending time with the Twits.
This HAS to be a shot at Lucas Oil!
As in “Lucas Oil Stadium” the Colts play in.
Gotta respect how you play the offseason chess game Griffin.
The next move is yours Jim Irsay….
@bearsrulepackdrool -
The name of the motor oil is Castrol. Castro is the guy Ozzie Guillen really likes.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, but can’t blame him for all the money he’s making off that.
No matter how many followers or how much ego talk, he’s still not a better pick than luck
Lucas oil vs Castrol!
Very odd. Shouldn’t Nike or Under Armor be the first big sponsor for RG3?
bearsrulepackdrool … Castro, as in Fidel ? … I wonder what he’s promoting ?
Don’t you mean Castrol? Or are you pulling an Ozzie Guillen on us and talking about Fidel? Lol!
But seriously though, just suppose the Colts go the TOTAL opposite direction and pick RGIII….talk about a conflict of interests….hope the oil he will be supporting is Lucas!

You can follow Griffin without going to his twitter page.
Who cares what’s on his twitter page?
Yeah, because every time I think about car maintenance, I wonder what NFL QBs do.
“Hi, I’m Ben Rothleisberger. When I destroy a motorcycle, you better believe it’s got Castro in the oil pan.”
Shouldnt they have signed David Decastro instead ?
and andrew luck will sign with lucus oil and let the battle of the oil companies begin!!! well at least it wasnt penziol or quaker state, i love castrol oil in my suv!!! …….now can i get a endorsement deal now?
Who cares if they unfollow? He gets paid.

You’re welcome. Its not like you would be talking about anything else, like Tim Tebow or anything.
I mean, who doesn’t need motor oil?
Breaking news from NASCAR, Jimmy Johnson just signed deal with Nike,
As long as the ads don’t tout his “high motor” or how he plays “on all cylinders” or how he is able to “rev up his teammates” or go into “overdrive” or “shift gears” or… man, this could get to be painful pretty quick.
