Andrew Luck visiting Redskins Tuesday as well

Andrew-Luck-Photo-by-Ezra-ShawGetty-Images Getty Images

It’s a busy day for quarterbacks in the nation’s capital.

The Redskins will follow up a day with Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III by spending some time with Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck this evening. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Luck will fly from Indianapolis to Washington for a meeting with the Redskins. He won’t work out for the team, as per league rules, but he’ll learn about them while they learn about him.

Florio told you last week that the Redskins were planning several meetings with Luck despite the widespread belief that they are going to wind up taking Griffin after the Colts take Luck. Until Jim Irsay makes the Colts’ plans known, however, the Redskins need to do their due dilligence on Luck so that they will be well-prepared in the event things don’t go as expected when Roger Goodell walks to the podium on April 26th.

While it’s possible that the meeting with the Redskins goes so well that Luck tries to leverage himself into winding up in D.C., all expectations remain that he wants to be the first overall pick in the draft. Griffin has sent similar signals about his desire to play for the Redskins, but, as a guy who played another sport once said, it ain’t over ’til it’s over.

Skins can’t lose in this situation, and that drives some people up here freakin’ crazy. The lashing and trashing just makes Skins fans smile even more. Keep it up.

You can hear the crickets chirping in here.

    RG3 to DC!!!

  5. eaglesfootballfan says: Apr 10, 2012 3:18 PM

I will feel really bad for the QB that ends up in DC. So much drama and not enough talent to help them in the NFC East, let alone the NFC. Mike and Kyle Shanahan are going to ruin either Luck or Griffin because of Mike Shanahan’s ego and Kyle Shanahan’s playcalling.

  6. jwil444 says: Apr 10, 2012 3:19 PM

This is a win/win for the Skins, whatever happens here, only Irsay can lose as it will be his decision alone that will decide the chain of events which will transpire.

Thus look for the consesus “safe” pick winning out. After showing Manning the door, Colts will leave nothing to chance and pick Luck, the consensus number 1. At the end, much ado about nothing.

  7. tonyromoisterrible says: Apr 10, 2012 3:22 PM

Luck would be better served playing in DC than in Indy. Irsay is a narcissist and the second worst owner next to Woddy Johnson. Now that Peyton and Polian are out the Colts will be the bottom dwellers of the NFL for years to come regardless of if Jesus himself quarterbacked the team.

  8. rando74 says: Apr 10, 2012 3:22 PM

Why? Whats the piont This is so stupid.

  9. darthsaint says: Apr 10, 2012 3:23 PM

Smart for the Skins…just in case Indy throws a wrench in their RG3 plans.

I highly doubt that happens. But you can never be prepared enough. Either way, Skins will have their QB for the foreseeable future. Is the rest of the team ready to win. Only team to beat the Giants two times last year. Some might say that equals a team close to mattering again.

Even though I am not a Redskins fan. I grew up learning and loving football in the mid to late 80′s. Seems to me, when certain teams are relevant, including the Redskins, the league is better for it.

  10. jamaltimore says: Apr 10, 2012 3:25 PM

Somehow, Someway the Redskins will figure out a way to screw this thing up.. It’s hard to imagine but all you need to hear is free agent or draft pick go out to Dinner with Beltbuckle boy and usually bad news follows. Maybe not right out of the gate but history says it will come.

One can only hope we’ll get a year of watching the Rat explain why either of these guys isn’t the QB or the offense isn’t as explosive as everyone expected them to be after a 1-3 start. His head may actually explode on live tv!

  11. armchairqb says: Apr 10, 2012 3:26 PM

Oh my god, enough already. Can the draft just get here now. Or can the Colts and the Redskins just quit the charade and announce to the world what we all already know?

  12. docredskin says: Apr 10, 2012 3:29 PM

We are, of course, assuming that the league will not strip the Redskins of the second overall pick for violating another rule that does not exist.

I love the people on here who trash the idea of Luck or RG3 wanting to be in DC… The Redskins won 5 games last year with Rex Grossman and John Beck… Do I really need to repeat that??? They also had a ton of close games and swept the Super Bowl champs… On the other hand, the Colts went from annual superbowl contenders to barely being able to win a game without their star QB… Remember when the Falcons lost Vick and the same thing happened to them? The Colts couldn’t even win 5 games when they lost their star QB’s… The Skins have two solid young running backs and a stud defense… No matter who they get, that QB will be inheriting a team that has the potential to become an instant contender in the NFL… sorry haters, it’s just the truth, unbiased fan here

Colts lost more than Manning last season. Even with the multitude of injuries last year, guys on special teams being inserted as starters on defense, and the three stooges at QB, they still managed to lose 7 games by one score (8 pts or less). Not terrible for a MASH team. Colts will be a lot better than some of you clowns are saying. No where near the bottom feeders. Enjoy! I know I will.

    ———————————————–

Ridiculous. Every time there’s a Redskins story, this old song and dance gets dusted off and regurgitated as if it were original. Why not make a Bruce Smith joke, too? That would be as original as it is contemporary.

I realize that much of this drivel will continue until Washington wins, but the notion that Snyder is the “worst owner in football” because he hasn’t won a Super Bowl in his decade and a half of ownership is absurd. By that criterion, Jeffrey Lurie would be practically a criminal.

Or is it because he frequently overpays for players to try to help his team win? I’m sure the Bengal fans would love to see some of those millions in cap room spent to improve the Bengals, or Tampa fans hoping for the same for the Bucs.

Oooh, I know, it’s the head coach thing. Because Snyder should have totally kept Norville and his 43% winning clip, or Terry Robiskie and his 0-3 record. He was also the only person pursuing Spurrier, except Jacksonville, Tampa, and Carolina. And Gibbs re-retiring? Yeah, all Snyder. Blame him for Marty, but one in 14 seasons isn’t inexcusable.

I suppose it could be because he’s short. You’d have him there.

Please, any reals skins fans would have a parade if Dan Snyder would leave in the middle of the night. Snyder’s track record is making the skins the laughing stock of the NFL and that’s not really something to be jealous of.

So before we welcome the New Dan Snyder, let’s look back at the one we know. That’s the Dan Snyder who left his mark, or stain, on more than just a football team. That’s the Dan Snyder who got caught forging names as a telemarketer with Snyder Communications, made a great view of the Potomac River for himself by going all Agent Orange on federally protected lands, and lost over $121 million of Bill Gates’ money while selling an “official mattress” while in charge of Six Flags.

I have no doubt Commissar Goodell has ordered Luck to go number one despite RGIII being clearly the superior player, athlete, and quarterback. It isn’t even close. Of course, the lapdog media doesn’t care. They report what Goodell tells them to because they afraid of losing access, just like how CNN reported Saddam Hussein’s propaganda.

by the way, i think NONE of these teams are dysfunctional, yet. ONE team is rebuilding (the Colts) and the other is just trying to find a QB with potential who’s young. the Redskins havent had that for a while, and no Campbell wasnt a young QB with potential in my book, when they took him, i didnt see much that i loved.

If RGIII were white, he’d be the number one pick hands down. Behind closed doors, I am sure they are saying that we already did that with JaMarcus Russell, and look how that turned out. I have no doubt Commissar Goodell has ordered Luck to go number one despite RGIII being clearly the superior player, athlete, and quarterback. It isn’t even close. Of course, the lapdog media doesn’t care. They report what Goodell tells them to because they afraid of losing access, just like how CNN reported Saddam Hussein’s propaganda.”

You can’t possibly be this ignorant. Cam Newton says hi oh and guess what color he is.

I just read over most of these comments and was wondering why that is considering the lack of maturity by most! This is a mans version daytime soap’s by the looks of it. Part of me hopes you’re a bunch of teenagers and not grown men arguing like broads with nothing better to do. I’m amazed by how insecure so many of you are that you need to respond to every comment that isnt in agreement to yours. It’s another level of feminization in our country!!!

    PATHETIC

Also, Clcan someone explain to me why Baltimore and Philly fans sound incredibly dumber than everybody else on this site? Especially Baltimore fans!!! Is the difference in education vastly lower in Baltimore??? How sad.

    @puckthepatriots
The colts werent good until they got Peyton and Polian. Your new GM hasnt won anything. The skins are building the right way now. I cant wait until they turn thi thing around and prove all you idiots wrong. The colts will suck for years to come. The patriots will own your sorry a$$es for the next decade.

Hey Toni, until your skins actually do something, shut your pie hole. The Patriots will own the Colts?? LOL. That’s all you got? Hey Einstein, Colts aren’t even in their division. Your putz of an owner will continue to spend money with barely any ROI. That’s what he does best. And have fun watching Garçon drop passes from Akili Smith, uh, I mean RG3.

@tonyromoisterrible…Skins are building it the right way?…how? by trading away all there draft picks and overspending on average free agents??..Skins fans are as imcompetent as their management…by the way, Tony Romo has a wining record against the Redskins(6-4)
