Weak ass offense? Do you mean the record breaking offense of last year? Most passing yards in a season (Brees). Most all purpose yards in a season (Sproles). I mean Bill Walsh was great as proven by his trophy case. But just in case you are this ignorant, all of those records above belong to the Saints from last season. Not Bill Walsh’s offense. And before you go to your usual comment about throwing the all the entire game, please do remember that the Saints were #8 in NFL in rushing. Get that: #1 in total offense, #1 in passing, #8 in rushing. Yes very weak. You are quite the scholar
============
Uh, The Ghost of Bill Walsh can rest easy knowing the Niners put a foot up the a%$ of the Saints in the playoffs, and the Seahawks did a year earlier, and the Rams did during the regular season.

Lets respect the architect of a staple of offense. Walsh OWNED the Saints, period. Need we even review the W-L record during the DARK AGES of football in N.O.? 84-92?

That being said, the Saints offense is prolific. It just got punched in the mouth at Candlestick last year. After Bountygate, its likely that the Saints invulnerability has been pierced as has the Patriots.

Parcells gifts don't include being much of a GM. But as a head coach, he has built four different teams into playoff contenders. He's taken two different teams to the Super Bowl, and he's won two Super Bowls. The fruits of the Parcells coaching tree include Belichick, who's won three Super Bowls as a HC; Coughlin, who's won two; and Payton, who's won one. Parcells was their teacher. And for the record, I'm not a fan of any team Parcells or any of his guys has ever coaches, so I have no dog in this hunt. I just respect the people who make the game what it is.
The NFL needs to adopt the Rooney rule for all positions, including players. When there is a disproportionate amount of minorities against the majority in player positions, the NFL should require that before any player is hired or drafted, that each NFL team is compelled to spend as much time considering majority candidates as they do on minority ones.

The Rooney rule is a complete joke. If the "artificial" problem has to be balanced on race, then the real problem should be addressed. Who cares if the quality of the candidates is up to snuff - so long as we achieve an arbitrary and capricious attempt at racial parity?

And should we not just have percentage quotas for all positions?

This post is a satirical slam at a policy that is repugnant, racist, and bogus - it is a complete sham job.

Parcells never made any sense other than it would guarantee Payton that his job would be safe.

And I've really got to question the wisdom of having multiple interim coaches during the season. Seems to me it'd be WAY smarter/smoother to appoint one guy who could be interim all the way through the season, rather than Vitt doing it for a while and then having somebody else cover while his suspension is taking place. They're running the risk of nobody really being in charge.

I personally, am a football fan, not a drama fan. So I’ll instead look forward to the season and how my Saints handle the adversity that has been placed before them.

Pathetic spin. The adversity was not placed on the team you cheer for, they created it then denied it and lied about it. Your team dug its own grave and now it is time to lie in it.

Alaricsrevenge - Just as an FYI. If Payton had his way, the Saints would have traded a low round pick for Romo in 2006. Truth is, the discussions happened and that was what Payton wanted. Fortunately for Saints fans, it didn't pull through and Drew signed his FA deal with us. But history could be VERY different for the Saints, and for whoever might have landed Drew.

My point is that Payton is a very good coach. Say what you will about how he pushes the rules at times. I think most of what we see or hear is hearsay anyway. The old saying of "Don't believe everything you read" is just as true with digital media. I don't think any of us will every know the fill extent of what happened, how it happened, why t happened, etc.

Saints take their punishment, we move on. The only reason this story continues is because Florio needs ratings to increase his ad prices and because fans of other teams aren't able to think objectively enough to disseminate a subject beyond hoping every other team implodes upon itself. Saints have offered a fair amount of entertainment for those types of fans. I personally, am a football fan, not a drama fan. So I'll instead look forward to the season and how my Saints handle the adversity that has been placed before them.

How is it that Payton, Loomis, Vitt, et al haven’t been fired? In any other working environment these guys would have been immediately dismissed.
——————————————–

That’s the last thing anybody wants… unless you are a Cowboys fan.

Jerry Jones would hire Sean so fast it would make your head spin. Then we would have to deal with another decade of Cowboy dominance like in the 90′s.

----------------------------------------------

Does he bring his QB with him too? Because, you know... he would still have Romo... The only thing he might dominate is a golf course in the offseason.

Just one more thing for Kungfubilly, what the Saints "players and coaches" did was wrong and classless. Sure. None of the fanbase was involved to my knowledge. Make light of Hurricane Katrina, (we deserved it, should have erased the city, etc etc) where over 3,000 people died is being done by some "fans" on this site and others.

That is the fan base being classless. See the difference.

Just one more thing for Kungfubilly, what the Saints “players and coaches” did was wrong and classless. Sure. None of the fanbase was involved to my knowledge. Make light of Hurricane Katrina, (we deserved it, should have erased the city, etc etc) where over 3,000 people died is being done by some “fans” on this site and others.

That is the fan base being classless. See the difference. Now don’t get me wrong we have idiot fans too but how would this board react if i started saying NY deserved 9/11 because some Yankee’s got caught using steroids.
Have to admit being a little disappointed. Parcells was one of the best and most colorful coaches in the business, and his press conferences alone were worth the price of admission. I'd love to have seen him back in that role.

But returning for a year likely wasn't in Parcell's best interest. The NFL Network documentary on him showed how deeply torn he was about leaving the sidelines and why coaching kept drawing him back. He's been off the field a while now, and taking another hit from his personal crack pipe might not have been a healthy choice. It's also better for the Saints to just steer their current course until Payton's return. They're a solid team with terrific QB leadership playing in a relatively weak division. They should be okay.

How is it that Payton, Loomis, Vitt, et al haven’t been fired? In any other working environment these guys would have been immediately dismissed.

That's the last thing anybody wants... unless you are a Cowboys fan.

Jerry Jones would hire Sean so fast it would make your head spin. Then we would have to deal with another decade of Cowboy dominance like in the 90's.

The majority of the comments on here are transparent. Instead of offering additional insight or even opinion based on merit. The majority simply wishes gloom and doom on any other team. Which I can understand to a certain degree.

I was intrigued by the Parcells idea only because it seems to off base. I am a Saints fan, have been since I was very young. I have to say, we went through so many years of trial that to even hear Parcells mentioned with our team, seems interesting. Much like Ditka seemed awesome as well. But we all know how that turned out. And in my opinion, I'm not sure Tuna in NO was the right fit. If he could have come in and literally just handled the HC job and nothing else, it might have been ok. But Parcells has been a coaching GM for the past decade. I'm not sure he knows how to take that hat off. And this team doesn't need tweaking...it is ready to compete.

Everyone acting like the whole defense is about to get suspended. This is 110% wishful thinking on your part. Your NFL insiders have all reported that it will only be a select few defensive "leaders". I expect maybe 3-4 active Saints. The majority of those defensive linemen and leaders...are on YOUR teams now...not ours. So your wishful thinking...might actually backfire on you if Porter (Denver), Fujita (Cleveland), Hargrove (Green Bay), are suspended. I as a Saints fan fully expect Vilma to get the worst of it. But the Saints signed 2 of the top 3 LBs in FA. I also have pointed out in the past, Vilma statistically has gone downhill 4 years in a row. We Saints fans love his leadership. But the honest truth is he has not been a top MLB in 2 seasons. We may also see Will Smith from our DL and Roman Harper see a couple of games. We are positioned to handle this if it isn't Payton level suspensions.

Time will tell. Goodell has shown his cards to a certain extent already. Asking the NFLPA for what is acceptable shows the NFL fears the pending suit by the NFLPA as soon as any decision is given. Which in my estimation, means the NFL will not come down nearly as hard as I think most of you hope.

Continue to hope the Saints wilt away and die. But this simply will not happen. We have a tough schedule this season. Wins will be difficult. This situation makes that even more difficult. But I expect the team to prevail even though many obstacles await.

The Saints players did nothing wrong, with the exception of Vilma. Get it right minusota fans. You are bitter as hell about those 7 turnovers, and you outplayed, outgained and out fumbled/int the Saints. There was no cheating. The Patriotsd were caught cheating, but again, it was the coaches, not the players who were guilty.
Williams talked alot of trash, but no players followed through with dirty hits. None. It is amazing that so many of you just dogpile on this like it is something with merit and your teams are a bunch of choir boys. I could cite facts, laink you to quotes, but you hypocrites are just being your classless selves at every opportunity. I cannot wait for the season to start so when the Saints hand your team their asses on a hot platter, you can come and whine about it. Call the wahmbulance, the Saints are coming. Sorry for you.
