Indianapolis drew rave reviews for its hosting of Super Bowl XLVI, and it plans to make another Super Bowl bid in the near future.
“We will most likely make another bid for the Super Bowl in Indy at latter part of the decade,” Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning. “It was one of the best host/city performances ever.”
In late February, Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard said similar things. Hosting the Super Bowl can generate a lot of revenue for a city, and Indy may have an inside track based on its recent success. Florio has argued Indianapolis “should have a spot in the regular rotation.”
The upcoming Super Bowl will be hosted by New Orleans, with New York and Phoenix to follow. Indianapolis will host the Women’s Final Four in 2016, but it could jump back into the Super Bowl mix after that.
