Bears extend Lance Briggs through 2014

Lance Briggs has spent his entire NFL career with the Bears and has been unhappy with his contract for much of that time. But after signing a new contract extension, there’s a good chance that Briggs will remain under contract to the Bears for the remainder of his career.

The Bears announced today that Briggs has signed a one-year contract extension, which locks him up through the 2014 season, when he’ll turn 34.

No financial terms were disclosed, but presumably Briggs signed because he’s happy with what the Bears were offering. At least for now.

Briggs started all 16 games for the Bears last season and made his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl.

Shhhhhh…. Don’t let Matt Forte find out.

Why do players blame their team and never their agent for the contracts they sign that they become unhappy with?

To celebrate, Briggs plans to abandon a perfectly good sports car near a pole late tonight. 😛

Briggs will still be around after he turns 34.

I guess they are shutting him up BEFORE he starts complaining this time…

Good move and I noticed a slight restructure saving almost million in cap space this year!

Now trade Forte. Go Best available the rest of the way. REAL Bears fans are tired of Forte complaining about a 4-year $16 million deal guarantee.

Matt, you are a running back in the modern NFL era, I am nostalgic, don’t get me wrong, I love black & blue and getting off the bus running and all that old school football talk.

The fact is the rules/penalties and the ability to just plain tackle someone have changed, they have given a huge advantage to passing game. There will not be high paid RB’s in this league anymore… period. By the way, I like Emery.. I hope he drafts as well as he has done in the free agent market.

    They really hate Matt Forte.

Forte must be fuming. But, hey, he was offered a deal. What’s that say about him if everyone else is excepting what the Bears are offering them except him.

Hidous, YOU NAILED IT! The league has changed. I say trade him to MINNY for their 4th pick and go get Khalil

Talk about a player that goes to the pro bowl every year based off name recognition.
