Good thing he has people like you to swallow his spiel hook, line and sinker without giving a second thought to what is really going on.

***

OK, now I think I'm shorn. You've taken the scales from my teeny sheepy eyes.

The entire Bounty fiasco is a ruse by Roger Goodell to prevent personal loss in the form of lawsuits. Ostensibly suits brought by players, ex- or otherwise claiming he's taking away the manliness of the game. Roger Goodell is a Dictator, then.

I see.

This is all about Goodell. It has nothing to do with proof, including mass media confessions and apologies and suspensions of leaders of the Saints. And those confessions were...coerced? Whipped from the frothy lips of Williams and Payton and Loomis and Vitt? Confessions given in exchange for Goodell's assurance that they'll be protecting the NFL, and more importantly, Goodell himself, Dictator, from being sued for lots of money. Money that I pay into the NFL system, which is evil, and of which the New Orleans Saints have almost nothing to do except to be Whipping Boys for Evil Goodell, Dictator. Fallen on their Saintly Swords for the good of the league and Good People Everywhere. But the awful secret is out! You've solved it! Thanks! Baaa-aaa!

This entire media circus for the past month is a huge cover-up of Goodell's plan to Cover His Own Butt. So he won't lose his personal stash of MY money. My sheepy brain was under the impression that the NFL Commissioner serves at the pleasure of the owners to protect the integrity of the game.

Dude, you need the pill from Morpheus. Bad. Take it with some of this yellow Kool Aid. No, it's lemon. I've got some wool for sale. It makes fantastic, warm hoods. You should try one. Here, let me help you get it over your eyes.

And Goodell is wrong because the Saints represent such a teeny molecule of that outrageous money.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

No, Goodell is wrong because he is foisting off the sins of an entire league on one scapegoat. Because he is a raging hypocrite pretends to eschew violence in the sport while the league makes money hand over fist because of that very violence. Because he cares not one whit about player safety until it begins to impact his bottom line in the form of litigation.

You are beyond naive if you can't see that he is manipulating the flow of information for his own interests. Funny how he didn't burn any evidence in this case. Guess that's what happens when the offending team is not owned by super buddy Robert Kraft.

Of course, actually presenting the evidence is another matter altogether, seeing as how the NFL has actually not done anything of the sort.

Good thing he has people like you to swallow his spiel hook, line and sinker without giving a second thought to what is really going on.

mdd913 says:
What a bunch of sheep.

So let me get this straight.

Goodell is hammering the Saints wrongly because I spend money supporting the NFL. And Goodell is wrong because the Saints represent such a teeny molecule of that outrageous money.

So the teams that represent bigger portions of that outrageous mountain of money should be punished, NOT the Saints?

The Cowboys, Packers, Redskins, Steelers, Raiders, Bears, etc that logically hog the bigger slices of the evil money pie must be punished!!

Is that what's REALLY going on, sir? I'm too stupid to understand, apparently. I'm too busy being self-important and snobbish. I have looked into my mirror. I see myself. Should I be seeing Darth Vader? Adolph Hitler? Dick Cheney?

You claim to be above me in my dullness. Yet you only rant about some sort of outrage that only you 'understand'. Help me ObiWan Kenobi. You're my only hope. Baaaa.

Thanks to the usual cavalcade of braindead morons for proving exactly my point. Predictable to the last.
Not that i would expect actual intellligent thought. People like you guys are the exact reason goodell has targeted and packaged this story the way he has. He wants the public to be all outraged and clucking and self superior so they dont see everything thats going on right under their noses. How does it feel to have your strings pulled like a dime store puppet? Oh nevermind, you dont have two brain cells to rub together enough to understand that you are being totally played.
I hate what roger goodelll is doing to the game, but i must admit he is brillaint at manipulating the the idiot masses. Otherwise all you who care to truly be outraged would be looking at yourself as fans to see how your dollars have helped propagate the nfls culture of violence, or look at the bigger picture, or do anything else except wag your fingers at one franchse whose total sphere of influence amounts to less than 1 percent of a giant multinational corporations hundred billlion dollar revenue stream.
What a bunch of sheep.
-------------------------------------------------------
You might want to brush up on the rules of spelling and grammar before calling others idiots.
Back on topic- the Taints have no one else to blame for this.
If you're one of the NO fans that keeps parroting the "all the other teams do it" line, then produce the evidence and send it to Goodell.
Bottom line, the NFL has the evidence against the Taints, and acted accordingly. And the culprits (Williams, Payton etc) have admitted as much.
I never bought into the theory that the Taints' SB win was gift wrapped for them by the NFL as some sort of feel good post-Katrina story.
But, I'm willing to bet that the NFL didn't appreciate the Taints organization taking advantage of whatever good feelings there were for that team and resorting to dirty tricks to ensure a win.
Whatever "hate" the Taints fans are experiencing nowadays can be considered payback for their, and their team's, arrogance post-2009.

Bottom line, the NFL has the evidence against the Taints, and acted accordingly. And the culprits (Williams, Payton etc) have admitted as much.
I never bought into the theory that the Taints’ SB win was gift wrapped for them by the NFL as some sort of feel good post-Katrina story.
But, I’m willing to bet that the NFL didn’t appreciate the Taints organization taking advantage of whatever good feelings there were for that team and resorting to dirty tricks to ensure a win.
Whatever “hate” the Taints fans are experiencing nowadays can be considered payback for their, and their team’s, arrogance post-2009.

Oh please, you don’t actually think I’m naive enough to believe that people are “appaled by the actions of an entire organization” because they actually care about player safety or any of this crap.

All these hateful comments are simply a continuation of the Katrina backlash, sour grapes and outright bigotry that Saints fans have been hearing for several, several years on sites just like this one. This controversy is certainly a convenient outlet for those of your ilk, but the hateful rhetoric those like you espouse is certainly nothing we haven’t experienced multiple times over and well before any of this bounty stuff happened.

"Parcells said it upset him to hear about the bounty program overseen by former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, but he believes Payton is a good man who doesn’t deserve to lose his team over the matter."

You're wrong Big Tuna- a good man doesn't accept money from a convicted felon to use for paying bounties.
A good man discontinues a questionable practice when called out about it, and doesn't lie to the league.
Any other person in any other career field would be fired for such actions- and possibly go to jail.
Sean Payton DOES indeed deserve to lose his team!
