Run the other way?! When your friend has gotten himself involved in an altercation of this magnitude (regardless of the circumstances that led to said altercation), who of you would bail on him? Perhaps Knighton needs to reevaluate his associates and his hobbies, but his actions at the point he got hit with a bottle were noble and commendable.

And everyone seems to be making a major deal out of the friend’s name being ‘Spoon’. If you did any research at all (like read any of the detailed articles), you’d realized that the friend’s given name is Tommie Weatherspoon. As if we ALL don’t know anybody with a shortened name as a nickname.

Too bad alcohol so badly impairs judgement it makes assessing such situations exceedingly difficult. It also makes some guys feel totally unstoppable, which is why alcohol and violence to hand-in-hand (or, fist-to-fist as it may be). I am guessing this “invincibility” phenomenon is even greater in pro athletes, who are usually bigger and stronger than most people.

Ken Hamlin may have cost Seattle a Super Bowl by getting his skull fractured in a bar fight. When his replacement went down in the second quarter of SBXL, a practice-squad guy got burnt on two long TD plays in the second half. Having a healthy #1 safety instead of Etric Pruitt on the field could have been all the difference.

As much heat as stoners take, ask yourself, honestly: Would you rather have a star player on your team sitting down at home with a doobie or going out to the nightclubs until 3 AM? Most of the “harm” from marijuana arises from the fact it’s illegal. Most of the “harm” from alcohol is caused by lowered inhibitions and behavior problems.

Its unfortunate that Collier’s deal didn’t sink in for this guy. Even during a contract year…..

I’ve also heard chat that the friend (who apparently came to the club with Knighton) was running his mouth, which was how the fight started.

The tales of threats on Knighton’s part were probably the ramblings of participants who didn’t want to take the blame for the altercation.

Having seen Knighton up close, I find it unlikely he would have to threaten to shoot anyone, since he can crush most normal-sized heads with his hand.

Of course, these tales are all rumors, and are as well-substantiated as anything else you’ll ever read on this site. Especially from the staff.
