The curse is no joke. The people who want their favorite player on the cover are clueless. It never fails.

Ray Lewis didn’t have a problem, unless you count a week 15 injury as the curse, in which case that’s pretty weak.

Larry Fitzgerald didn’t have a problem.

Drew Brees didn’t have a problem. He still had a pretty good season. Or does the curse extend as far as “didn’t win the Super Bowl”?

Seriously guys, here’s the rub: to be on the cover you have to have performed exceptionally well the previous year. It’s almost impossible to perform as well the next year, whether due to individual or team issues. If Rodgers wins but doesn’t post a record passer rating, idiots will say it’s because of the curse. Same thing if Megatron wins but doesn’t set the season TD reception record. etc. etc.

I’m in a keeper league and have Gronk & Cam, so I’m glad to see at least one of them got knocked off. If Cam wins, I’m hoping the “13″ and Madden Curse will just cancel each other out and praying that this “perfect storm” of bad luck doesn’t lead to some career ending injury.

All the fans on here who are saying “No way players actually believe in this”, you are dead wrong. I am a Panthers fan and once it looked like Cam would get the cover, I asked one of my friends (who plays for the Panthers) what he thought of the curse. His exact quote was “There is no way I want to be on the cover and I dont want our QB on there either”. And that’s not just his opinion. Players absolutely believe in the curse.

What is weak-minded about a conspiracy theory?

They are a simply a different perspective, often against the grain of the Company Line – many of which have a reasonable amount of facts to support their claims.

Following the rest of the pack for fear of persecution seems to be akin to the “weak-minded”.

Well, since his name has entered into discussion . . . There is no way, no way that Tebow would be associated with Madden so long that the curse exists. Implying such goes against a lot of what the guy stands for. For those of you saying the curse is garbage: reality is that it's a convenient tool to use to make fun of people that usually have a crappy season after appearing on the cover/load screen. It does exist as evidenced by Peyton Hillis appearing on the cover last year -this is fact, Google Madden 12 to see the cover- and his season was comparable to a plugged toilet. Best way to break the Madden Curse: poll the players to find the guy with the dubious moniker of Worst Player (or go find Ryan Leaf), this way all the big play guys survive.

Just a reminder for Newton supporters, VY down in Tennessee had a big rookie year, was put on the cover the next year, and then his wheels went square. Not saying they are on the same level talent wise, but the comparison should be noted.

I would love to see Willis get the cover. If anyone ever saw that story on that ESPN show on his life, you wouldn’t be able to help rooting for him, regardless of your favorite team. What an amazing and inspiring person he is. He deserves all the good things that happen for him.

I never thought about this year’s game being called Madden 13. Maybe the unlucky number will cancel out the Madden curse. Or it’ll make it twice as potent, like cursing the two final players competing for the cover.

I’m glad Megatron beat out Gronkowski. That dude is a punk. He’s annoying. He’s the stereotypical jock, with a big head. That being said, I hope Megatron or Newton wins. I wouldn’t have a problem with any of these 4 on the cover though.
