PFT Live: Panthers GM Marty Hurney and Bears talk with John Mullin

There will be an NFC feel to Wednesday’s PFT Live.

Panthers general manager Marty Hurney will join Mike Florio to look ahead to the draft and year two for Cam Newton. We’ll also try to get some insight into how the Panthers will deploy their deep backfield during the 2012 season.

Focus will shift from the NFC South to the NFC North when John Mullin, the Bears insider from CSN Chicago, comes on the program. The status of contract talks with Matt Forte is one of many Bears-related topics that will be up for discussion.

You can watch it all live at noon ET.

Once again Panthers and Bears holding hands…there’s something going on between these two organizations…they frequently trade and do things jointly.

A chance for us to all learn how to overpay both a RB & a K in the same offseason

So is this a conspiracy? You seem to make like there something sinister here.

Look at the Packers and Seahawks. Seahawks take Holmgren, Reinfeldt, Thompson, Hasselbeck, Martin, and now Flynn.

The Packers took Sherman (Holmgren’s OC), Ahman Green, Robinson, and took back Thompson.

Things have worked out swell for both teams. The upper management of football is a rarefied group of people, it’s no surprise there is crosshatching going on. Once you’ve made some good deals without screwing each other, you’ll probably keep it up. Do you expect the Bears and Ravens to be making deals in the near future?

They do pair up frequently, but it’s nothing like with the Steelers. Jerry Richardson has a major man-crush on the Rooneys. That’s one reason why we play the Steelers in the preseason every single year.
