Check that how many are still in FOOTBALL.

All these Bears fans talking trash about the Lions, the 2nd game they played, if the Bears stay healthy this year etc. Who won when we were both healthy week 5? If YOU stay healthy? Our secondary was destroyed Turkey Day with everyone going down to injuries, we had to sign a RB off his couch. Gimme a break, we should've beaten you in 2010 with our 2nd and later 3rd string QBs. Typical Bears fans, only wanting to hear about injuries when they're theirs.

--I was referring to the defense mainly as declining, but I'll address your concerns. Cutler has the best future of those 3 you mentioned, and that isn't as good or as long as Stafford's future. Stafford is 5 years younger and a whole lot tougher. Cutler would never throw a game winning TD with a seperated shoulder. Forte, well, he's a running back with quite a bit of mileage on those legs, very good currently, but why do you think your own team is unwilling to extend him?? Running backs in the league fall of the map quicker than any other position, I give Forte 2-3 more years of impact, tops. Plus, he hates your franchise. Marshall, the guy is all over the place off the field, and yes he's good but he's entering his 7th NFL season, and his skills will also be declining over the next few years, if he can even manage to stay on the field with his legal troubles.

So you mentioned a pouty crybaby qb who has talent I will admit, a RB who by NFL standards is aging who also hates your franchise, and a bipolar WR who will also be slowing down as he gets to 30 yrs old, and none of those guys can help your aging defense......

I hate Lovie, I thought he should've been fired along with Angelo and MARTZ. Lovie has failed the last 4 out of 5 years and I'd I failed that much at my job, I'd be fired. Also if Cutler doesn't get hurt last year, they finish with a better record than the Lions, FACT!

Do you really feel the need to question my education level and refer to me in such a nasty way just because the bears can't win enough football games?? wow

I will stand by what I said - statistics are for losers.
The only people who worry so much about stats are the ones who don't win - it's pretty simple.
So you can whine and cry and call me names all you want - but it doesn't change the fact that the bears are not very good.........
Also - i really have to wonder about YOUR intelligence when you put down the packers - i don't think the bears have beat them in quite a while, have they???? LOL!!!!!

@suprSquirrel

Bear fans may not even know what 'taking the girl home' means, given their sole (i.e. one, single, uno, eins, etc.) Super Bowl victory (25 years ago). Pales in comparison to the Packers, 49ers, Patriots, Giants, Cowboys, Redskins, Steelers, etc. Maybe not the topic for Bear fans to brag on.

Super Bowls are not won off of 5-game winning streaks, particularly when only one game was against a winning or playoff team. The weak schedule is what triggered the 5-game winning streak, not any imagined "change" to the playbook.

Over the course of the season, the Bears ranked 7th in attempted rushes overall. During the 5-game winning streak, Cutler averaged only 220 yards per game, totaling 7 touchdowns over that span. Again, against four non-playoff teams. The Bears were winning those games by reducing the reliance on Cutler.

The saddest off-season commentary is that no mention has been made of Cutler maturing enough to NOT go tumbling head over heels in a futile effort to make a tackle following another interception. He lacks the mental awareness to ever be an elite QB in the NFL.

Martz was simply the latest scapegoat by a head coach that has dismissed 28-29 assistant coaches over his 8 year tenure with the Bears. Easier to scapegoat a coach than acknowledge the true weaknesses of the team.

I think crediting you with a third grade education level might have been giving you too much credit. And the four morons who 'liked' what you said because they thought you schooled me, too.

Overall record statistics don't matter, thanks for reiterating what I had said. Hence the whole '15-1 lead to one and done' comment. It doesn't matter if you finish 15-1 or 1-15, unless you take the girl you like home with you you'll be sitting in the bleachers with the rest of us.

However, you can't totally discount stats, either. Unless, of course you are either A) a complete moron, or B) a fan of the Packers and/or Lions who doesn't want to face the facts.

What are the facts? The facts are that Mike Martz ran an offense that made the offensive line look worse than it is. Which lead to Cutler being sacked far more than he should have.

What is also a fact, however, is that after the first loss to the Lions much of Mike Martz's playbook was taken away from him. What happened then cannot be discounted...unless, of course, you fall into category 'A' or 'B' above: sacks went down, offensive production went up, Bears were 5-0 and well on their way to a playoff berth before Cutler broke his thumb.

If you don't think THOSE stats matter you are a complete moron. Mike Martz is gone and so is his 'let's find a different way to kill Jay Cutler this week' playbook.

"Its funny that you think the Giants are so good. Didnt they lose to Seattle at home last year? If the G-men are soooo good why did they barely win their crap division? The Giants got hot at the right time….nothing more"

Are you serious????
Giants have won 2 super bowls in the last 4 years - including beating the 19-0 "best team of all time" - you can't just dismiss that as"lucky" - or "hot at the right time"
Regular season trophies don't shine quite as nice as lombardi trophies ............

The Bears did improve themselves more than any other team in the division, AND are still the 3rd best team in a 4-team division. That means fighting for the #6 seed in tough NFC, once again.

One could look at the Brandon Marshall acquisition as essentially a 3-for-1 trade for Vincent Jackson, as VJax would not have cost two draft picks to acquire - on the same day! In addition, signing VJax could have afforded salary cap flexibility for other needs, while Brandon Marshall offers no flexibility. An experienced or talented GM would have known this.

Detroit and Green Bay did exactly what was needed, solidifying the young core of very talented teams. As well, Chicago did exactly what was needed, enhancing an aging core by filling holes with outside talent. Nevertheless, both the Lions and Packers are younger and more talented than the Bears in 2012 and beyond.

This whole thread is funny – there is not a team in that division that is even close to being good – except the packers – ohhh – that’s right……. I think think the giants went up to lambeau in the playoffs and exposed the pack for the farce that they are – haha
Go G-men!!!!!

-----------------------------------

Its funny that you think the Giants are so good. Didnt they lose to Seattle at home last year? If the G-men are soooo good why did they barely win their crap division? The Giants got hot at the right time....nothing more

Too bad the Bears are in the same Conference as the 2012-2013 super bowl champs, The Cowboys, so all this talk, giants, 9ers, lions, packers….It’s all irrelevant, Jerry has come to feed on the soul of the NFL for the next few years as Romo collects Lombardi trophies like he does blondes.

"I was going to go on a big, long rant about how most of the Packers and Lions fans posting about how poor the Bears line was must have forgotten that after the first Lions game they took away Martz’s playbook and the Bears proceeded to go 5-0, allowed FAR fewer sacks and averaged thirty points a game during that stretch. I could have also mentioned a bunch of other statistics that the third grade education many of you received wouldn’t have been able to comprehend. And then I realized it would all just be a waste of my time, so instead….."

15-1 lead to one and done….

You might have been the prettiest girl at the dance and might have worn the prettiest dress with the nicest shoes, but when all was said and done you were sitting on the bleachers watching the boy you were in love with dance with someone else, princess.

In case you are not yet aware - statistics are for losers - I don't remember the last time a championship caliper team or the fans of one - needed statistics to try and prove that their team was good - last I checked - all that matters is whether or not you win - did they start measuring success in a different way that I am not aware of???????

A lot of smack talk going on around here between Bears and Lions fan. I will admit, I'm biased, but people are missing one fundamental truth regarding these teams. All the studs on the Lions team are young guys who still have yet to hit their prime (with the exception of Megatron, who likely has just entered his peak and will sustain it for at least another 3-4 years). The key players on the Bears squad are ALL aging rapidly with declining skills, and they need to make free agent acquisitions like Brandon Marshall to feel like they can make one more gasp to compete before their defense is ancient history.

This is a fact: the Bears best players are in the twilight of their careers----for all the Lions talent, the sun is just rising. As a franchise, that means the Lions are in a much better place right now. Football is a young man's game.
