Maybe Molden wasn’t the problem but wasn’t he part of a secondary that was terrible in Hou (2010) and NE (2011)?

Rivers is worth a 5th rounder. Molden wasn’t that bad on the Pats, either. Good pickups

Molden was terrible for the Pats last year. He is a special teamer only. If you are bad on a very bad secondary, you’re not going to get any playing time behind the Giant’s very good secondary. Let’s not forget that he was leapfrogged on the depth chart by street free agents during the season.

If the Pats signed Webb from the Ravens, I would understand letting Molden go. But we didn’t and our secondary is TERRIBLE. McCourty gets burned on a regular basis, our 2nd round draft pick Ras-I-Dowling spent the entire season on injured reserve, Sterling Moore is average at best, Edelman is a JOKE at CB and should never be put on anyone who is taller than 5’11. Kyle Arrington was a nice hit but he’s not a shutdown corner by any means. Couple that with a pass rush that has been suffering since 2004 and it’s no wonder why Superbowls are won with defense and we have none. I would say that the draft might save us but frankly, the Patriots haven’t drafted a DB or pass rusher worth a damn the last 5 or so years. Why, oh why, didn’t they pay Webb to come here? For the 31st overall pick, he’s better than any draft pick we could have.

Unlike in 2008, the Giants, even though they won a championship, they aren’t satisfied with their current roster. Keith Rivers is a win even if he doesn’t pan out considering they gave a 5th rounder. Locklear is depth on a very thin line, and Molden’s best quality is that now Antrel Rolle won’t need to move into the slot corner and can stay at saftey. Add another lineman, running back, and an outside threat in the draft and they’ll be in position for another ring.
