For everyone saying “Who cares, it’s just pot!”:

I don’t think NFL executives care as much about the pot smoking as they do about his intelligence and passion for the game of football. He was kicked out of one of the most prestigious college football programs in the country for smoking weed, and continued to smoke even though he knew it could hurt his stock going into the NFL. That reeks of poor decision-making at best and lack of intelligence at the worst, neither of which is a quality many NFL teams will overlook in the 1st round of the draft.

Janoris is to blame here but Terry Bowden should be fired he took this kid in and knew why he was kicked off the Florida Gators there should have been weekly testing of the pothead. Bowden’s wanted to win more than do the right thing imagine that a coach not doin the right thing.

Many NFL players smoke…Ever heard of the whiz-a-nator (?) geez people…He should be a fine pro and he actually seems to grade higher in some areas than Mo Clay…No pun intended.

Someone in the late first or early second will snap him up…I just am proud as hell he did NOT LIE!

I understand most everyone’s post is about the pot smoking and that will have an adverse effect on him – he will be in the “program” as soon as he signs his contract, but he can, if he wants to, decide not to put the the “reefer madness” to his lips. The children are a different matter. As I posted earlier, the mom’s are going to get money – and alot of money. All the players you have read about lately filing for bankruptcy have one thing in common. They all have many children by many mothers who were all getting a share of his contract. Sure smoking pot and having sex is fun but now he’s going to have to pay the piper. In turn he will resent the fact they are getting “his money” but there won’t be a thing he can do about it. The court will garnish his pay and he will be behind almost before he cashes his first check. He just doesn’t understand he’s not going to be as “well off” as he thinks he will be. To everyone saying, just legalize it already. What’s to say the NFL would say it’s cool and take it off their own banned drugs list.

There are plenty of LEGAL products that you and I could take on that list that would not have us spend a day in jail or even a ticket, yet suspends players every year.

Pot would very likely stay on the banned drugs list.

Jenkins should not be drafted until the the very last pick for whoever decides they want to waste that pick on a guy who will be suspended for 4 games, then a seson, then 2 season and then for good. This idiot has all the talent to make an impact on about any NFL team. Problem is, he would rather smoke pot thaan get paid millions of dollars to play football.

I could care less how much weed he smokes, but he wants to be an NFL player. Doesn’t the NFL have a rule against banned substances???? He got kicked out of FL because he wouldn’t give up the weed, and he still smoked it at AL. If he wants to be a pothead his whole life (in between fathering kids because I guess his pot-filled head doesn’t know what a condom is), fine. But don’t expect someone to invest a sh*t load of money on you when you choose to continue behavior that some see as risky.

It’s his decision-making that’s a cause for concern here. He’s basically thumbing his nose at the very people who could make him very rich (well, until all the baby mamas line up for their fair share). He’s going to find out that, in the real world, you don’t get to dictate the rules. As far as I’m concerned, he can smoke his life away while losing millions at the same time. Doesn’t bother me at all.

He can’t perform if he is suspended, idiot. It has nothing to do with how he plays football. He was arrested several times, and has four kids under the age of three, from three different women. The guy is a head case, and he has zero chance of having a successful career. I wouldn’t sign him as an undrafted player. 3 arrests, 4 kids. You want to give him millions of dollars thinking he deserves an 8th chance?

I see many replies saying “it’s just weed” and “it should be legal anyway”, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I get that. But even if it is legal, players in the NFL still wouldn’t be able to do it. When they sign a contract one of the stipulations is that they will not smoke weed. You want to play in the NFL, you have to agree to not to do it. Period.

AFAIK, the CFL doesn’t seem to have such restrictions on their players. He won’t make any money, but he won’t be tested either.

He’s the type of talent you can’t rely upon. I predict his first drug suspension will occur within the first 12 months of his signing. He might make it through the season without getting caught but will get nailed during his first off-season.

Sooo… I’m not saying I didn’t do it (smoke-up) in college, but what is wrong with the old fashioned “just stop doing it” method? I always hear people say, “legalize it,” but I’m pretty sure more would be accomplished just not doing it anymore, then waiting for it to be legalized (definitely less would be sacrificed). Also, if it doesn’t have such a negative side-effect, why can’t people prioritize “great” success over doing it?
