If there are strong leaders left in my beloved Colts clubhouse, I could see them taking him with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round.
lionsplayoffs says: Does anyone remember 25 years ago when there was like 1 player like this in the entire league? The rest of the league was full of Jerry Rice, Gary Clark, John Elway types that did nothing but bust their a$$es.Now at least half of every draft is taken by complete clowns like this guy.

------------------------------

Nonsense. Remember the Raiders under Madden, winning Super Bowls but doing piles of drugs and getting in fights? Remember the clothesline tackle, how guys were trying to injure offensive players? Guys like Rice and Elway also played alongside Michael Irvin and Lawrence Taylor. But you forget that.

There were never any "good old days" ever, for anything. There's just days, with old fogies cherishing the positive memories of their youths and calling it "better."

I'll say this much...Preston Parker was also a complete moron I'm college and got kicked out of FSU, and he went to N. Alabama, same place as Jenkins. Hasn't caused a bit of trouble for us and in an interview with him he truly did sound like a changed man.

With that being said, Jenkins was probably even worse than Parker, and that's coming from a Gators fan. The Cromartie like behavior is especially concerning, and as we've seen from Josh Hamilton, even guys who truly want to change can sometimes relapse. It only takes one bad decision for these types of guys to lead to a whole lot more.

So even if N. Alabama did give Jenkins a new perspective, it's still a huge risk because he'll be taken first or second round, whereas Parker was undrafted. I agree with others who said that his future will probably be determined by the team that drafts him and the veteran leadership around him.

Whoever said he has a multi-million dollar talent and ten cent intelligence is over valuing his intelligence.

The worst thing that could happen to him is getting drafted in the first round. It would validate in his brain everything he has done in the past.

Even after all he went through, his new coach went out on a limb for him. The coach found out less than a month ago this idiot was being deceitful with the him.

It is the lack of common sense here with this kid. What he is going worry about is now with a salary cap and him going to be hounded for child support by at least 3 mothers of his 4 kids all ready how much more out of pocket money for the first 4 or 5 years is he going to have to pay out with his rookie salary?

Bringing up 4 kids all under 3 is not going to be cheap plus these women are going to ask the courts for back payments and if the hospitals can also collect from him they will.

The Kid all ready has behavioral issues just wait till everyone wants his paychecks and he starts knocking up more women.

Broke and even more bitter is where I see this Kid.

It would be one thing if he were drafted by a team that has strong leadership in place, good lockerroom chemistry combined with a solid authority figure as the head coach (Patriots, Packers, but the Packers typically don't take chances on questionable character-types especially early in the draft). But it's another thing entirely to suggest that the Lions would be good destination. The head coach makes excuses for his players, rather than holding them accountable. They've been burned numerous times in the last few drafts by ignoring character and now they're going to reap what they've sown. Stafford is going to be a good QB, but does he yet have command of the lockerroom? I don't think he does. On the defensive side of the ball especially, I have no idea who the "leader" is. It can't be Suh since he's pretty well disliked by his own teammates, and not exactly the greatest role model on or off the field.

If I had to guess a team that would take him in the first AND get him to shape up, it would be the Patriots (and I'm not a fan). The Packers could get him to shape up, but they typically don't draft guys like this early on.

Son, who you are when you are doing the one thing that makes you happy and/or gets you paid is not who you are.

It's who you are when you are dealing with realities of everyday life as an adult that shows your character.

This kid grew up believing that all that mattered is what he did on the field. And when you're talking about a kid, it's easy to blame the enablers.

But he's an adult now, and it's time to grow up and realize that the content of your character is determined by how you live your life off the field.

PS- I am in complete agreement with ebby's comment. I am far more disturbed by the 4 kids/3 moms thing. What does it say about our society that everyone is focusing on his weed use, which harms no one but himself, and not the tremendous burden he is potentially dropping on society if/when he busts out or goes broke?

faulkn22 I would have to agree. I do think he has some issues, but so have some other great player like Randy Moss. I think his upside for the lions would be great. He is something that we need, I am not for taking the DE so early again in the draft. I know that we have people in the last year of their contact and we may be able to use them in the future, but our secondary is horrible. Idk how many people pay attention to the lions, but they need a corner if they dont get someone to go opposite Houston they will win less games this year. Berry is not a starter and they plan on having him start with the division they are in and the addition to Marshall we need corners and jenkins would be huge if he stays out of trouble.

I'm less concerned by the history of marijuana use than I am by the fact that he has four children from three different women at the age of 22. That, to me, represents a far more troubling pattern of behavior, and unlike the weed, he hasn't acknowledged that behavior as a mistake, or rather a series of mistakes. I wouldn't touch this guy if I'm running an NFL franchise.

I know I’m in the minority, but I hope the Lions still take Jenkins in round 1. You can’t hit a homerun unless you swing, and if he’s not getting in trouble, the talent is undeniable.

Plus, rookie wage scale makes this much less of a gamble as it would have been in the past.

I say swing away, Lions. Unless someone more talented is available @23, but it’s doubtful.

really? Thats a bad idea after fairley and leshoure and a young clubhouse. Sorry there are some other CBs at the 23 spot who can contribute.

Drafting him in the top 10 to carolina is another mistake. He would be better off in a place with some veterans in the same position he plays. Philly, packers, giants all are much better spots for a guy like this.

Cowboys will sign him.

And then after a few more off field issues, when they release him, the Bengals will pick him up.
