The Redskins suffered a significant blow last preseason when Jarvis Jenkins, the second-round draft pick they hoped would start on their defensive line, went down with a torn ACL. But there’s good news about Jenkins this week: He’s been cleared to return.

Jenkins wrote on Twitter that he got a clean bill of health at his latest medical checkup.

“Officially was cleared earlier today to play ball again god is good now it’s def time for football!” Jenkins wrote.

The 6-foot-4, 309-pound Jenkins can play either end or tackle, but he’s expected to compete with Adam Carriker for the starting position at right end in the Redskins’ defense. That competition can start with the beginning of the Redskins’ offseason work on Monday.
